On the drives Inside and outside rim are the same theyre just flipped inside out, right?
Is the steer rim also the same deal? Meaning that i can take a steer tire and rim, flip it and put it on an outside drive position and vice versa?

Yes all the rims are the same. Or at least should be.

Erm. Steer tires are special. Leave them be.
Chances are the rims assigned to that position at factory are also special.
Why would you want to move rims around when chrome shops are filled to the rafters with wheels to choose from?
Remember I am taught that each wheel position on the 18 wheeler has specific requirements. Tires too. Same way. The last time we figure one wheel anywhere was back in the old 5 spoke and bolt/rim days. -
Wheels do not know position like tires. Though I leave my steer wheels on the steer and my outside drives on the outside. Same for the inside. I would rather break down tires and remount as polish wheels

The rims are the same. Some of them are polished on one side only but as far as using a drive on a steer or visa versa, it won't hurt anything.

If they are steel or aluminum disk rims stud or hub pilot other than the tire size meaning they are not super singles they (rims) can be used in any postion.
If you have diffrent size tires like 11r 22.5 on steers and 285 75 22.5 on rear there would be a tire height concern. I have a truck that used to have 12r 24.5 on steers and 11r 22.5 on drives as it increased the frt axle capacity. Now that truck has 315 22.5s whisper is a wider tire so the rim is wider and if I tried to put it on the rear I could have spacing issues.
Other concern is if aluminum rims they are typically only polished on one sidethat shows so if you took an inner wheel and put it on the outside it would need polishing.
All things being equal on a standard spec fleet truck you can place the rims at any possible mount point on the truck and they will fit. If you went into a tire shop and asked to buy a steel disk rim they are going to ask what size not where you putting it.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Some of my trucks had outer aluminum rims and steel inner rims on drive.
Those trucks it did matter if I put all aluminum rims, because the lug bolts were shorter.
All the rims should be interchangeable as far as function.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

Generally yes the rims are the same. The exception is if you have the big boots on the steer axle in which case the rims are different.
