Well, here's an update to my situation. It looks like I am not going to pass the physical exam no matter what trucking company I apply to. I am told by recruiters that they will most likely end up getting me on a cpap machine. Will I be able to begin training while on the cpap machine, or will they wait until I can correct my health to the point I don't need the machine? Or to be more specific: Are there any truck companies that will let me begin CDL training right away even if I am required to purchase a C-PAP machine?

I want to clarify something for the bashers. I did not get fired for slacking. I got fired because I have to pay a 450 dollar lease every week, and the business is so incredibly bad in the suburbs that I can only get an average of 4 fares a day even if I am booked into the dispatch system for 16 hours. Years ago I used to be able to make $1000 a week driving a cab, but the tidle wave of immigrants coming in to drive cabs has completely saturated the industry and there is not enough business to make more than 200 a week even if you caffeinate yourself to death and stay booked in round the clock.

The majority of cab drivers are IC's. They have to lease the cab just like an IC would lease a semi. They also have to lease the equipment (meters and whatnot). Their source of income is that meter. They do not get an hourly wage or a salary. So yes, it is possible to work 14 hours a day and only make 200 a week.

The members bashing the OP have no clue what they are talking about, and need to back off if they don't want to be helpful. Bashing someone because they are homeless is beyond low. I hope those members don't end up in the same situation and end up needing help. Karma has it's funny way of paying people back.

Elricofmelbourne if they will put you on a Cpap machine go for it. When you're free, take a 1/2 hour walk everyday and improve your situation , you can do it

Prime didn't make me take the sleep study until the day I got my cdl and was hired, but I've heard it varies from company to company, either way prime just takes it out of your check once you pass there student program

You need a medical card to get a CDL. To get a medical card you will have to pay for a sleep study then show effective treatment has been found.

speaking of medical cards.....hubby got a letter last month from the dmv, stating his physical had expired, (he already had a new one before that one expired but hadnt sent it to the dmv) and that he had til aug to straighten it out before they suspended him....so yeah they are enforcing that whole med card linked to the CDL...know thats not what y'all are talkin about....just made me think of it, thats all

KY sent me a letter the day BEFORE my card expired saying my CDL was expired. Luckily , I was home the day the letter came. I had renewed my physical a few days earlier.

Ever notice that if someone near the beginning of a thread rips on the OP everyone else will too? If the first page makes it through with helpful and encouraging posts the rest of the thread usually will as well.

    Just an observation.

    What do you mean everyone?

    EVERYONE!!!!!!
    I guess I shouldn't of said everyone. :biggrin_25522:

I really meant the overall tone of a thread, not a person for person breakdown of them.
