I have been homeless in NYC. Some of you bashing this guy for being homeless,, you really have NO idea what it is like having no where to sleep, no food, shelter, and the fatigue being up constantly because you can't sleep comfortably. Shame on you.

SWIFT hires homeless people. I met one in Ohio and he was staying in the hotel used by a couple trucking companies. Unfortunetely for him he failed his road test and was being kicked out of the hotel. Asked him where he was going to stay and he said "Downtown for a bit." Call them.

Well, I've been keeping this to myself because I didn't want people to think that my situation would affect the way I carried out my duties as moderator but here goes. I have been separated from my wife for the last 5 months. We have had problems since the beginning of 2011 and they've finally reached the point where I could no longer stay in the house. As soon as it's feasible, we will be getting a divorce. Trucking had some to do with it. Basically my being away gave her permission to do what she wanted, which was of course my fault. But I won't get into the nitty gritty.

I'm in a better situation than the OP and others that have posted in this thread in that I have a job but when I am on time off, I stay in motels or in my truck. When I stay in the truck, I take showers down the street at the Love's. I've had days where I essentially parked in my car in a public place for hours because I didn't have a room and my truck was being serviced. When my children's mother is in a good mood, I can come over during the day when she is at work and watch my little one (and my oldest since she's currently at home). When her mood swings go south, I'm best to stay away. So I think I have a better idea of what this guy is dealing with than most.

I just need to do what I need to do for me and my kids at this point. If that means I need to stay in cheap motels, then so be it. Beats sleeping in my HHR, LOL!!!

To the OP, if this is what you really want, I say go for it. But don't jump into it thinking it will be an easy ride.

I've seen drivers in similar situations but they were already driving when they ended up with nowhere to stay. This is a different story. I really doubt someone that couldn't succeed as a cab driver can make it as a truck driver.

I don't know the age of the OP but the military is a much better answer for him.

Have you ever drove a cab before? Have you ever been homeless before? If your answer is no to both, you have no clue on what you're talking about.

Driving a cab isn't anything close to driving a semi.

Imo it is much more work to drive a cab. I even used to deliver pizza and i think that was a fair bit harder and probably more dangerous than driving a truck.

I mean, i am treated way better even by CR England than i have been at any restaurant i have worked at.

I wish the OP best of Luck, it sad shape out country in. Least he wanting to do something about his situation which we should be encourage than attacking. There is so many who not working but keeping a roof by hand outs that you and everyone else who is working paying for. And they do not want to work.. Least the OP wants to work
