4-8 weeks ago, i started having some varying issues.
one day i wake up and a couple fingers tingle. assume slept on my arm wrong.
another day and everything i see beyond 50 feet has a clone. birds in the sky, power lines. 65mph looks like 665mph.
constant thirst, thus lots of fluids, thus frequent urination.
odd puss boil on scalp.
so i take a few days off. come back and all these are worse. go back home and for 3 weeks, it's been crazy with all the doctors, appointments, tests.
come to find out the A1C only goes to 15 and i was off the charts. so immediately starting insulin.
dr orders a tons of Rx and sets up more appointments, specialist and tests.
so, i think my trucking career is over... am i wrong?
what other work is out there for someone with 10 years (off and on) OTR experience that can be done without a DOT medical card?
Suddenly I'm an Insulin dependent diabetic... now what?

Lool into a ketogenic diet, you can recover from this.
-
Check that with your doctor... ketosis can be lethal for people with diabetes.
-
After you get under control you can look up on dot web site on how to apply for a waver to drive using insulin
-
Not sure how true it is, but I've heard you can use an insulin pump and be able to drive. Maybe someone will know if that's true?

Just heard about this as well. Going to go to the doctor and get some blood work done/physical and ask him about this. I was astonished by the before and after pics of some of the people using this. Here is a link if your interested about someone saying this helped them with diabetes . Im sorry to hear about your situation, Stay positive..

Uber
Courier services
Some box truck jobs
You might qualify for new job training through the state. I figured if that happened to me , I'd retrain to be a reefer mechanic.Last edited: Nov 17, 2017

Unfortunately this happens way to often to way to many people the sad truth is big business has got us hooked on sugar, you name it you got it in just about everything and then the other big business the Pharmaceutical industry makes an absolute fortune on medications for this condition and so the process goes round and round the fact is your condition can be brought back under control with the right diet and medication to the point where you may not need to take any once you understand the cause of the condition.rolls canardly Thanks this.

I'll take a stab at no medical card.
Go to your Revenuer (DMV for you yankees...) and sign a Tier Two Affidavit presto, you get to keep your CDL and it's Jewelery and be allowed to do a spot of driving on a farm or a few other very specific activities. But no Interstate or Intrastate commerce.
