Hello Truckers, heres my situation! I'm looking for a starter company where I can make the MOST money (a lot of mile). My situation is I don't need home time, I don't need days off. I would rather work months at a time before having any home time at all. I want a company that will allow me to do! I also want a company where I will be known by my name and not just another number. I don't have anything on my MVR, no dui, no accidents, nothing. I took my drug test and physical today for school everything was perfect. I start school this coming Monday. Its a 3 and a half week course, so I will graduate at the end of May. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance!![]()
Suggest a GOOD starter company for my situation.

Pay for your CDL on your own and get a job at an LTL company in your area.
Where do you live?
This is the best time of the year to be applying to LTL companies.....You are likely to make a lot more money than at one of the truckload companies, particularly the ones that hire rookies.
No matter what anybody else tells you, A LOT OF LTL COMPANIES DO HIRE ROOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And about being a number....Who cares? The only numbers I care about are the ones on my paycheck.autobarry Thanks this. -

LTL companies put many different shipments on each trailer.
Try UPS Freight, Estes, Old Dominion, AAA Cooper, Fed Ex Freight, Saia, Dayton Freight, Central Transport, Vitran etc.....
LTL is where the money is at and most LTL drivers are home every night. -
What does LTL stand for?

Estes, Estes, Estes. They are in NC I believe. Stay away from the meatgrinders.
Haven't heard much bad about Roehl, but in any case you will start out slowly anywhere you go, until dispatch is comfortable with you and you with an increased workload.
Remember, you still have to get comfortable DRIVING the truck and becoming aclimated to living in one.
Good luck.Newtrucker83 Thanks this. -
Sure if you can get on with an LTL company, go for it. They'll start you working the dock most or all of the time, but they have you behind the wheel before too long. Most guys just go with big truckload company's to start so they can get behind the wheel right away, but LTL company's are better paying...many are teamsters union (ie; UPS Freight, ABF, YRC)
