Yes that's what I'm saying. And that info is coming from a friend that ran one(tandem) for 2 years and another guy I know that bought a single axle and said it was the worst thing he could have done because it gets over 20k pretty easily

Would have responded earlier, but I just got back from Cali. Yes, it IS easy to overload the rear axle on that SC 5 car, BUT a lot of this depends on how it is outfitted ie; HD rear ramps, heavier gauge deck, etc.

We HAD to have the heavier deck and ramps for my busses, our trailers are right at 11,500, but we did a lot to get down there, drop legs instead of landing gear, lighter gauge tubing, alumn, wheels, eliminated the front deck, and we changed KP to axle that SC usually runs, plus some other weight saving mods..

It all helped, but she is still a fat bottomed girl on the back end, but I am not unhappy, so far a full load of four MVP1's that weigh right at 5200 each scales out at almost 49,000 gross, this is with a S/A Cascadia 60" loaded sleeper that weighs just over 16,500

Our scale ticket was 10,500 ft ax, 18,500 RA, and 19,800 on the trailer, so as far as what I needed and wanted, mission accomplished, BUT as I stated before, probably isn't for everyone and you better know your customers shipping weights to the pound.

Probably the above scenario is close to max for us, as I can get no more weight on the drives, and without being heavier on the drives moving the 5th wheel forward is useless.

The benefit is, should be better fuel mileage, MUCH less tire cost, and very easy to get around with the S/A, took a bit oof getting used to chasing the tail around when backing up compared to our spread axles

I will be down in Phoenix next week to start picking up my old trailers, and talk to them about a new project, will try and look up Slant when I get there!

    Speedloader Thanks this.
