I will be running system/OTR for at least a couple weeks at a time. I can't speak to the pay or home time yet as I have no experience of my own with either of those. All I have to go on is what I've read from the guys & gals that have written threads here. I will definitely update as much as possible once I get rolling![]()

First day with my trainer today, everything good so far. I’ll be training out of the St. Gabriel, Louisiana terminal. We’re overnighting in Meridian, Mississippi en route to Chattanooga. Everyone is really nice down here and very helpful. Lots to learn!
MYSTYKRACER Thanks this. -
Everyone thinks Meridian is a hole, and it certainly looks like one from I20. Our son went to flight school at NAS Meridian and I had the chance to hit a couple of nice restaurants and bars in the revitalized downtown area when we visited him. I only pass through now but wish I had the time to visit again; good memories.
All the best to you.SurfBaker Thanks this. -
I didn’t get to see much of it, just a quick overnight. I bet the downtown would be nice though.

Back in Meridian tonight, picked up a load of what looks like liquid plastic in Doraville, Ga & headed to Forney, TX to deliver Monday. Will arrive Saturday so it’ll be a nice layover on Sunday. So far, so good! I’m so grateful to be with such a great company. If all continues to go well, I’ll be in my own truck sometime in August.
MYSTYKRACER and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
It's awesome to hear from someone who likes their job. It's usually just people #####ing up a storm. I'm glad you are happy there. You're a Florida boy right? You gonna be pulling in state at all? I don't know where they come from or what they are doing but I see several of y'all daily here in Valrico.

How much has your trainer let you drive so far? Will your Monday delivery be a live unload, customer unload, or just drop-n-hook an empty?
Post a pick of the truck you're in if you can? I understand Superior runs all Mack Anthems these days w/ the system/otr folks getting the newest trucks. Let us know the details like if it's automatic, does it have an APU, inverter, fridge, microwave, etc? -
Yeah I’m living in Jensen Beach right now so I’ll be running the system since I’m too far from the terminal to drive local. I’m enjoying being out on the road, I love to drive and I love the adventure of it all. I don’t think I’ll be pulling much in Florida, maybe just taking a load out every now & again. There’s lots of local work around the Tampa area though.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

I’m not able to drive for the first week per company policy so I’m just absorbing all I can on the log, load paperwork, loading/unloading, swapping trailers, etc. Monday will be a live unload so I’ll get to hook up hoses, air off the load and get some experience. I’m looking forward to driving next week for sure. From what I’ve seen and heard from my trainer, the trucks are either Mack Anthems or Internationals. They’ve got the small sleepers and no APU, No fridge or microwave, but really we have plenty of time to stop & eat so it’s no big deal. I’d rather make my own food and bring it so I’ll get a cooler & keep it in my truck once I get cleared. We trucked from Meridian, MS to Terrell, TX today & will spend tonight and tomorrow night chillin’ in a hotel with layover pay. After we deliver Monday, we will head to Pasadena, TX to drop the trailer & see what’s next. Keep on truckin!kemosabi49, spindrift, MYSTYKRACER and 1 other person Thank this.
