I live in Houston so if I end up w/ Superior my home terminal would be Pasadena. I'll be interested in hearing your impressions of that terminal? I've heard it's actually the biggest one in their system?
-
Any updates from the week of training? What was the Pasadena terminal like?
-
Man, it’s been a long week of doing nothing. If this was any other company, I would’ve rented a car and drove myself home already. I’ve been in a hotel all week waiting for a load. The Pasadena terminal didn’t have anything for us so they redirected us back to St. Gabriel, Louisiana & we’ve been stuck here waiting for a load all week. I’m getting paid so it’s all good but I haven’t even driven yet so I’m a bit frustrated at the moment. I’m back at the terminal now, supposedly there’s a load for us this afternoon, I’m cautiously optimistic. I haven’t posted anything because I didn’t want to just complain about being stuck in a hotel next to I-10 in a ****** part of Louisiana. I’ll update when the wheels start rolling again.

FlaSwampRat and MYSTYKRACER Thank this. -
Wow, that's weird the freight is that slow but at least you are getting paid. Does your trainer have any thoughts on if that's normal or is cyclical?
Do you know if there would be a difference between the OTR and the regional freight availability? -
If you’re planning on working out of Pasadena, you should be able to keep busy. It’s the biggest and busiest terminal, I wish I could’ve seen it. They just didn’t have any OTR loads for us. Drivers from that terminal may get priority? Everything is cyclical so it’s gonna happen sometimes. I’m not sure if it affects regional, local more than OTR. I’m just taking this a day at a time & absorbing all I can from the drivers I talk to. Everyone is really nice and very helpful. I understand the paperwork, I’m good with hooking up hoses, air lines, pressurizing the tank, bleeding off the pressure, just ready to drive!!FlaSwampRat and MYSTYKRACER Thank this.

Home terminal drivers always seem to come first........
-
That’s what I’ve heard too. I’ve also heard that system drivers from other terminals are supposed to get priority so they can keep ‘em out there and moving. I think a terminal manager is likely to look out for his/her local drivers before some OTR driver. Just my opinion, I can’t speak from experience.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Finally got on the road late this afternoon! Left St. Gabriel terminal with a load going to Stuart’s Draft, VA delivering Monday morning. Trucked about 300 miles to the Red Roof in Meridian, MS to overnight & will get back on the road about 9am. It felt good to drive & I’m comfortable with the rig. We hit some pockets of heavy rain but being from South Florida I’m not bothered by that, just taking it nice & easy. We’ve got about 700 miles to go & 2 full days to do it so no worries on time. I’m gonna knock out as much of that tomorrow as I can so I can relax & watch some baseball on Sunday. Definitely a different feel pulling a tanker. I can feel the tank pulling me sometimes. Any turns or roads that are banked I can really feel it and of course the sloshing when I accelerate and brake. Steady as she goes, will update tomorrow night.
MYSTYKRACER, Cat sdp and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Oh yeah, got my first full check for last week, not a bad start! All hourly pay during training.
