Cool that you finally got to drive! Are you driving a manual or an auto?

Do you think you'll have another week w/ your trainer since you sat most of this week?

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Yeah I’m pretty stoked & excited to drive again today! I’m driving a ‘16 Mack with a 12 speed automatic. I like it, it’s comfortable and handles well. I haven’t pulled any major hills yet so not sure how it’ll do there. As far as my training, it’s up to my trainer when I get released. If she feels I’m ready then it’s on! I figure a couple weeks driving & she’ll be comfortable releasing me. The safety guy has to approve as well. People complain about the 65mph governors but honestly, I’m cool with it. I just cruise on down the road in the right lane & it makes it easy to keep a good following distance. So far, Superior gives plenty of time to deliver and are really flexible about the route you take, pretty much up to us what way we take and how far we drive each day. Very happy so far.

Trucked 503 miles today from Meridian, MS to Kingsport, TN. We’ve got about 230 miles to drive tomorrow & then we’ll post up near Stuarts Draft, VA for our Monday morning delivery. Everything was smooth today, good weather, light traffic, can’t complain. I still had 2 hours left on my clock to drive so we made some good miles today. We’ll start out later tomorrow so we can get to our next stopping point around check in time. Sure is nice having a hotel room every night, I know it won’t be like this once I get my own truck.

The part of being a new CDL driver that I struggle with is watching for signs. Scales ahead, speed limit changes, height limits, weight limits, no hazmat in tunnel etc. There are so many signs that I never paid attention to in my first 30 years of driving that can get me into deep **** now. I’m always watching my speed and my mirrors and making sure I’m keeping a straight track in my lane & I miss some of the signs. I guess it’ll just take time on the road and hopefully not costly tickets to open my eyes.

Patience patience patience~seems like now days everyone is in a hurry to go nowhere~couple weeks ago I had a driver from Andrews Logistics run me off the road but gives me the bird without a wing as he passes me on a single lane road trying to get to the red light 1st~you have to have flies eyes out here

Charleston, WV to drop the trailer at the tank wash and pick up an empty to load in the morning in Belmont, WV. Had our air line blow out during discharge & had to make a repair on the spot, glad my trainer carries some hose clamps Working out the kinks in my backing skills each day, practice practice! We’re loading tomorrow morning & delivering Thursday morning in Louisiana so we’re gonna have to really keep the wheels turning and hope that it doesn’t take forever to load. I’ll post some pics if I can

You might not want to post pictures while loading/unloading , terminal managers don’t have a sense of humor these days........

That's for sure. Cameras, even phone cameras, are a no-no at most places chemical tanks deliver.

029C0403-9402-4E2D-A5A0-D8894D368E6B.jpeg Rolling down I-65 in near Bowling Green, KY early this morning & had my first blowout. Startled me when I heard it but I thought aww #### that’s a tire. At least it wasn’t a steer tire and we were near an exit and a town. Getting lots of good, real world training/experience & for that I am grateful
