Yes, that is correct. I went to Sage Truck Driving School in Fort Pierce, FL & contacted Superior while still attending school. Superior hired me and I am currently out driving with my trainer until they are confident I am ready to go out on my own.FlaSwampRat, Just passing by and dennisroc Thank this.

I have been in Korea for 14 years and moving back to Indiana and will be attending Sage school there. Seems like I checked with Superior Carriers in Indiana and they wanted experience.
Will you get much time off through the week or weekends ?Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
Awesome! Welcome back. I’ve been all over Korea as a merchant mariner, Busan, Gwangyang, Jinhae, Pohang, even got to participate in some military exercises in the Yellow Sea. (CJLOTS) Good times! Anyway, each terminal is different. Have you applied online yet? I would start there to get your name in the system, talk to a recruiter if you haven’t already. Get your tanker and hazmat endorsements as well. When you’re done with school, walk in to the terminal with CDL & tell ‘em you’re ready to work. Most drivers can get home on weekends I believe. Lots of drivers I’ve met work mostly during the week out of their local terminal. Better money OTR but you’ll stay out 2-3 weeks. I’m training so running as much as I can but had a few days off when it was slow.Gearjammin' Penguin and dennisroc Thank this.

Did your school suggest Superior ? Did others from the school go there or was this just something you did on your own ?
-
I did my own research. My school didn’t even know of Superior Carriers. This forum helped me immensely.AzuaTanker and dennisroc Thank this.

Good to hear it wasn't a major incident!
Will you be directed to a specific repair facility or will you have to wait for a road-side repair vehicle to show up? Do you get any kind of layover pay while waiting for repairs? -
We
We have a number we call & they handle anything that happens. Break down pay starts as soon as we pull over and ends when we get rolling again. Took 3 hours to get rolling again.dennisroc Thanks this. -
I am from Indiana just north of Indianapolis and don't see any terminals around close. Do you know what their hiring area is ?
-
It’s really up to the terminal manager at each location. I don’t think there’s a terminal around your exact area. I live 2.5 hours from my terminal & they hired me. My trainer said Cincinnati is probably your closest terminal. It’s pretty tough to be a local driver if you live really far away from terminal but you can run the system no problem. I don’t know if they have a set hiring area, seems like it varies.dennisroc Thanks this.
