Well, when I can download similar sized files in about 30 minutes on the same network and it takes 5+ hours to download the map update, then that seems to indicate that the WiFi network that I was on is not the problem.
RM should compress theit updates into a "package", download that "package" and have the Rand Dock.software uncompress and install the files instead of having its customers download a bunch of individual files which seem to be uncompressed.
Most other software companies have been doing it that way for decades!

I remoted into a user yesterday that posted they needed help. Her download only took about 45-60 min and she was on Wi-Fi back to the house network she was at.
RM cannot control the internet nor carriers whose network you may be on.
Thanks,
mark -
Sorry for the delay. I wanted to verify the map version before I posted it.
After map update
Software 3322
Map 4130423
You can see the map version Preferences/General/Contact & About - bottom right - OS Version.
Thanks,
mark -
If you got an E-Mail this morning about the RM TND80 tablet and tried to click on "Learn More", if you got an error message, try again a little later. Seems everyone hit the button this morning and overloaded the circuits.
Thanks,
Mark -
The maps have to stay on the SD Card due them being bigger that what is available on internal storage.
Thanks,
Mark -
Mark Kling Thanks this.

Could it be that this person is asking if the SD card can be inserted into a card reader/writer in the computer to download the maps to it and then put the SD card into the TND later? I wonder because I had that question earlier in this process. I couldn't try it though because I had dock issues that Mark figured out and fixed. I still owe you one, Mark.....

You can download the maps/version from the Dock without an TND. Then when a TND is connected it will push the maps to the SD Card and the internal software to be updated.
The TND has to be connected to the Dock in order for it to push the files/updates/maps across.
Thanks,

Okay, so I started updating my 720 earlier. Once the download was complete, I assume, it was ready to start transferring. Thus I started it & walked away, came back an hour later, to around 8 hours remain (went up a little), checked again, 10 hours, again, 14 hours, again, we are now at 15.5 hours. What is the deal? I am sitting at the house on an awesome connection & 15 hours to complete? What gives??? I have to leave out at 9am for Miami & I would like to have my GPS updated. At this point I'm going to have to factory reset it & try again this weekend.
