Support Thread for the TND 500, TND 700 or future Rand McNally products. (part two)

According to the history on Google Earth, Southern Cold Storage was built sometime between June 2006 and April 2010. Airport Road was a two-lane. Then in the next shot (September 2011), Airport Road has already been four-laned and finished. Hubby started going to SCS after that, so we didn't know exactly when the road was finished. Ever since we got the TND, it tried to make him turn on every side road to lead him off Airport Road and over to AL-77. It's funny that one of the side roads is itself a dirt road (Martin Road), and the TND tried to make him get on a dirt road to get away from what it thought was another dirt road. Technology can be a wonderful thing, but sometimes it can also be comical.

Now why would they do that? That would make too much sense.

 

No thanks -- I'll pass. I have a hard enough time keeping up with the computer I have in a hundred pieces and I'm trying to fix, listening to the news, and giving my husband info for his next load over the phone all at the same time.

I told Hubby about this after he got to his destination, and he tried it. He went to Preferences/Route/Turn Announcements, but what he saw there was this:

First Announcement with Closer <----------------> Further slider
Second Announcement and Third Announcement also with sliders

There was nothing about the chime that he could find.

 

I've never had a problem or even an inquiry about mine in a lot of those red states, but I have it well below my line-of-sight.

 

I haven't been here in a while, so maybe this question has been asked and answered ad nauseum. If so, I apologize.

My last bit of information from Mark Kling was that the new maps for the 520/720 would be out in January. That has come and gone and no map, so is there an updated estimated release date?

 

The map update came out last week. Your dock should have the Map Update Available button now.
