Did you do the map update first then do the regular update? You downloaded the maps on what kind of network?

    Thanks,
    Mark

yes... maps first , then software update.

I used the wifi at a Starbucks.

If I use the reset button, what will it default back to? ... and if I want to start from scratch, would I remove the
Micro SD chip where the new map data is stored, then hit reset? ... then maybe I could restore from a previous
backup. I haven't backed up any of the new stuff in anticipation of trouble. My backup is of previous software
    version and maps.

I just not sure how this box operates ... Thanks for the help

This did not work, I hear what sounds like a Windows error then it tries loading for about 1 minute then gives up with that error.

    Thanks,
    Josh

I was trying to update the map on my 720 and I keep getting a no card found message, which does not make sense as the gps makes a chime sound when inserted and my computer itself see's it but not the dock?

Did you install an 8gb class 10 micro sd card into your gps?

Ah.! finally some tech specs. I was not aware of any classifications for Micro SD chips, so I did not look. I put a 32 gig in mine.
Do you think that could be a problem? ...and what if the chip is not a class 10?

I honestly don't know -- I just regurgitate what Mark says:
And here's what he said about the dock still not recognizing the sd card:

Lennetta at Rand McNally says she has a class 4 Eight gig card in her 720 that works just fine. They are also saying it makes no difference if you do the software update or the map update first. Lastly I was told to disregard anything Mark Kling says, but they are aware of who he is. WTF???
