    Just wondering if numerous lockups esp. in 3D mode have anything to do with the new maps and software update on the TND 720.

    Thanks

    I didn't know that CS could remote access the computer... I will certainly give that a try before I send it off...

    Wi-Fi????? This is one of the first things I suggest you not do. You are pushing about 4 gb. High Speed Internet is what you should have.

    I think you got file corruptions on the download.

    Your best bet would either contact RM support to have them file the files or contact me on a PM. I would need you on High Speed Internet, not Wi-Fi and not hotspot'd.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Contact RM support. The Dock is not seeing the SD Card as a drive. They will remote into your laptop and change the drive letter assigned.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    I will repost this again.

    Minimum 8gb, class 10. You can get a class 4 or 6, but the data transfer speed will be lower. Class 10's are cheap. You can pick up a 16gb class 10 for about $10-$15.

    class 4 - 4mb/s
    class 6 - 6mb/s
    class 10 - 10 mb/s

    https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/speed_class/

    On the map update. HIGHLY suggest High Speed Internet, such as at home, not Starbucks, or MCD. You are pushing a lot of data and any Wi-Fi is limited by the amount of other users sharing it. 4G as a hotspot might be okay, but not suggested.

    Map updates are done first. When you press the update button it looks at the mapset you CURRENTLY have and will update the files accordantly. If you are on older maps you will not get the most current version. Maps are updated first then it will push to the SD Card. A default file is placed in the NaviMaps folder to "force" the read to the SD Card. It will see the newer mapset and update the files to the newer versions.

    720's - You will see it as an external drive but the Dock will say no SD Found. Call RM Support and they will rename that drive and the Dock will see the SD Card. This is being looked at.

    Lockups - ver 3322 is what you are on. Go to Preferences/Route/Junction View Distance - toggle left to OFF. This is being worked on quite extensively. It was a issue that popped up after the version was released.

    RM CS is aware of who I am. I do work for RM and the comments were forwarded to the highest level at RM. I have been with the TND since 2008 as a plankholder.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Yesterday was a Holiday and with weather hitting everywhere hard, I image they might be shorthanded.

    I may not be able to get on this site daily as I am working issues, but if you need my help, just send me a PM. I will get an E-Mail.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Wow man. That is jacked up.

    All this time I thought that this guy who I watched updating driver's GPS's from dawn until dusk in truck stop parking lots during the Rand "Moving America" tour was Mark.

    Apparently he even had Cliff Clavin from Cheers fooled at the show. But I guess Cliff does spend a lot of time in the pub drinking heavily.

    Sheeesh...

    Mark is in the trenches, not behind a desk at the mothership.

    And now back to your regularly-scheduled support thread... (sorry folks, I had to vent for a sec)

    - Don

    tech note: would I buy a class 4 card for $6, instead of a class 10 for $8? Well, it's not like it has something important on it that I want to run quickly, like the next turn on my GPS. Oh, wait...

    Did you ask her/him how many miles they put on their 720 while sitting at their desk on a daily/yearly basis? You do anywhere from 600-700 daily and having a fast data transfer is highly recommended.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Oh, come on man ! I have done hundreds of Windows and Mac software updates over the years at Starbucks with zero
    problems. How can RM data be that sensitive. It was downloaded quickly and the files were checked / compared by RM
    website for integrity. It seems the code is simply buggy....

    I will call TS at some point when I get some home time ( I'm a pro driver that doesn't have cable at the house for internet )
    I trod my way through this nightmare piece of gear....
