It would really depend on how much you use it. In some 3rd party testing it did not use all that much. I usually run 2-4 units off of one hotspot and it is a few mb's if I use all the services.
You can try it and run the service off your Hotspot. Your phone should have a option to show you how much mobile data you use and you can slide the bars around to narrow it down to the one day you are testing.
Thanks,

I also could not update my 720 using a class 10 8GB micro SD card to the new map. The dock software did not recognize the SD card but it showed up fine in Windows 7. I was able to resolve it by changing the SD cards drive letter to one that came after the InteliRoute TND drive letter. It seems that the Dock software will not see the SD card unless it has a drive letter that comes after the after the InteliRoute TND drive letter.
If you want to resolve this yourself rather than contacting Rand and giving them access to your system you just need to change the SD cards drive letter to one that follows the InteliRoute TND drive letter.
To change the SD cards drive letter connect the GPS to your system using the USB cable with the SD card installed and then go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, select Disk Management from the left panel, right clicked on the SD card in the right panel and selected Change Drive Letter and Paths from the drop down menu. Select Change and then select the drive letter that follows the drive letter that the InteliRoute TND has assigned. My was InteliRoute TND drive F: and my SD card was drive E: so I changed my SD card to drive G: and it then installed the map update fine.Dieselboss, billthetrucker and Mark Kling Thank this. -
ToolBars are another.
I also install IS0Bit and CC cleaner and show you how to use them to keep your computer clean of unneeded files and cookies.
I don't care what you have in folders, it is your PC.
Thanks,

Any word on when the maps will be ready for those of us running Mac's?

Once it is released, be aware that I am not a Mac person, your best bet will be to contact RM then.
Thanks,

I think I might start warming up to this TND 720. I never got rid of it, though I REALLY wanted to, but I did not want to give up the digital speedometer. That thing is spot on.
I had been running the original mapset that was on the device since I bought it in January of 2014. Who knows how long long it sat on the shelf. I estimate that it was about 3 years old. The short time I had a working dock, I dont think I ever tried to update the maps. I do remember transferring the Tell Rand files, then It wouldn't work after that.
The graphics on this new mapset is ALOT better than what I had. It still doesn't come close to Google Maps, but I will say this.... RM address accuracy is better than 95%, whereas Google Maps cannot even bat .500. If the TND Tablet has touch screen responsiveness comparable to Google Maps is on, a smart phone, I will seriously consider upgrading.
I am going to play around with the routing a little, but I since I am so used to being my own navigator, it won't bother me much if it still falls short.
I love the speedometer and when I use it to double check an address, I would trust it over Google Maps any day.
I would love to see a feature, either on the 720 in the future or another model where I can touch the 'next turn' icon in the upper left to briefly see that junction view.
ETA: I almost forgot so say, I also love having it just to run it as a live map, now I know I can put a lot more trust in it.Last edited: Feb 23, 2015

I am beyond frustrated with the tnd 720 and rand McNally. Several days have been wasted and no end in sight due to the horrible software and customer support for this product.
My device was working fine until I attempted to update it after several days of prompts from the dock software on my PC. I updated it many times before with no issues and I am a CS graduate so I have some understanding of how software should work. After the most recent update that requires an SD card, of which I already had installed, my device immediately displayed the error message "System File Missing, contact customer support". I thought that was a strange message since contacting support at the first sign of a software issue is telling of the quality to be expected. After that I attempted all suggested steps from rand McNally support page. Diagnostic and repair failed to find any issue with the device. uninstalling the dock and attempting the fix again failed. I contacted support yesterday and was greeted with a uninformed representative who simply remote connected to my device and performed the same operations I had already attempted with the exception of deleting my sd card. He assured me this would fix the problem and to attempt the update again. So I used the remaining data on my metered highspeed Verizon account to download the update for the 4th time only to have the same system file missing error, just as expected based on what I had already experienced and despite the reps claims to the contrary.
A previous rep also stated that the other option was to send it in for repairs. Repairs? My device is not physically broken. This is a software issue that was caused by your software. Why can't this be fixed from my computer? This is the equivalent of sending your laptop back to the manufacturer every time an update is released for the OS. That option is totally ridiculous. If this the nature of this product then I feel that I have totally wasted money. To make things worse, at the same time I was making the update I purchased the traffic everywhere subscription for a year. I will be calling them back today to inform them that the update failed again and my de vice is still stuck on this screen. If they tell me I need to send it to them and be without it for days or weeks then I will never buy another product from them. I'm a truck driver who needs a navigation system that can be managed by the user on the software end. I could understand if the device had some physical malfunction, but I don't see how an update could cause such a failure of internal components.
If someone here has any idea how I can fix this issue now without dealing with an RMA I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks -
Sorry, I couldn't resist.
