Update, my TND 720LM ha rebooted and now seems to be working. I had it charging for a long time and hadn't had time to check it for function but it now seems to be ok. So, now I can just read about everybody else's issues or advice. Glad you guys have this help thread and take time to post.

How do I compare routes? I've had mine two years and never seen that. Also can I get road conditions and weather on an old one?

I've had several routing issues with both units. I've had it take me down "no trucks" streets a lot. I've had it say I was on a dirt road when I'm on an interstate. I've had it take me way out of my way several times even after changing settings per RM tech support. I update the unit at least once ever two weeks and run the diagnostics & repair too.

Unless you added St Louis as a Via, it would not go that far out of route. I am running no HazMat/80k/loaded/5 axles/53'/102"/13'6", standard truck settings. I have no avoids and I do change the Preferences/route to different things to try to duplicate.

You do not need GPS to put in a route. I happen to use an emulator on the laptop along with a live unit for testing.

When you update, you are not updating the maps. Those are only once a year. You are updating the POI files and version if one is out there for release.

    Thanks,
    Mark

It is the version that allows you to compare routes. Since you are on an older model you would not be updated to the current model and weather is allowed by an internal Wi-Fi card which is hardware.

    Thanks,

Nothing is wrong with your original 720 nor the one you have now.

No Truck streets - this is in the Maps. If you post them here I can see if the latest maps (not released yet) has been updated.

Dirt Road - If you get at the beginning of your route then it is the location you are at, if you get while going to a location then it is at that location. Simply in the maps there is a paved road that is still coded as a dirt road. Same thing, post here so I can verify.

Way out of route - Let me know the start/stop locations and I will see how the route takes. Give me the info that it should have taken you. But be aware, that the GPS is only going by what is in the map data. See post #119.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Today I was going to the same job so as an experiment I changed my settings to 12'11" and it routed me perfectly under that 13' viaduct. I do know that if it's marked 13' then a 13' trailer is supposed to fit under.

I verified that also. I am seeing how the code is written and also will see what is in the map data for that overpass.

Update - Map data error. It is showing 1" less than it should be.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Exactly the reason I think the height should flash on the screen (or audible or something) whenever going under a bridge. Especially in cities like Chicago. These guys will sometimes pave the street and everything changes.

    Thanks for checking it out.
