After owning my 520 for over 2 years, finally a map update. I was really wondering about the 'lifetime maps' promise.
I didn't even mind getting a memory card to make it possible.
Considering the size of the update, I guess I shouldn't be surprised it took so long. It seems to have completely replaced the older maps, and took more room than the base storage capacity.
Here's hoping that the 'fast' SD I installed doesn't slow things down too much.
(Fast probably equals mid range these days. 48MB/s is what the package said. And I can remember building desktop video editing workstations that required 4 of the fastest hard drives in RAID to get even 30MB/s.)

You should be able to look on the card and see what class it is. class 4=4mb/sec, class 10=10mb/sec.

I'm looking forward to seeing if it now sees some of the roads it has failed to see since my 510 days.
I'm also wondering if I will get fewer warnings about dirt roads, exactly 10 miles before an off ramp.

I have seen less of these as they are usually the end location or location you are stopping still being coded as a dirt road instead of a paved road. This is in the map set.

I haven't had it on the road yet, but from viewing the map from home I think I like some of the changes - like displaying county roads with the image the actual county uses. Nice touch.

From what I've read here I think I'm glad I didn't get the 720. It seems to have many more problems than my 520.
Every time my 520 locks up I just have to hold the power button for 5 seconds to shut it off. Then I wait about 30 seconds and turn it back on.

The 710 was the only one with a port issue. If you are on ver 3322 then this is software which has been resolved and hopefully the version released this week will resolve that.

The only time it locks up is when I've done too many things.
It seems every time I change a route option or do a search for a POI or something, it fills the RAM up to capacity because it is trying to retain too much past information.
Not a hard thing to fix, for a decent programmer.

Try to power the TND down every few days to clear up the memory resources.

Needless to say, I am excited about this latest update. I can't wait to get back out on the road to check it out.

Routing Highway 29 both directions from Green Bay, WI. west toward Wausau, WI. Some/most at grade intersections do not allow left turns from side roads. You have to turn ride then do the u turns or turn around at an exit/entrance ramp. Same on highway 53 north of Wausau to Superior.

Are you saying that the actual road does not allow you to make a left turn or the TND is not allowing you to make a left turn?

Have you tried to press the reset (on top) - you will need a paperclip.?

You might also try to uninstall RM services in settings/apps and then try to download it again.

If you do not see the download available, on main screen, click on right arrow, unused part of screen long press, configure, RM launcher - truck, bottom - press - check for new updates. The screen will not do anything, but it is checking.

He has a Mac running BootCamp. I saw the Dock pop up in the Task Manager then drop off. I asked the Dock programmer and they suggest I check a path variable in his environment settings.

Yes that's exactly what mine was doing and it turned out to be a program that changed some file extensions and wouldn't let the dock launch. Can't remember the name of the program as it was a couple years ago, I did post about it but can't find the old post.

If the device was just purchased in Feb from Rand McNally, the speaker would be under warranty and can be repaired/replaced.

The screen would need to be reviewed. The screens will not get scratches from normal use and definitely not deep scratches.

Please call us to set up a repair on the speaker and screen review.

This is frustrating- They don't believe this would happen under normal use... I'll call but what is the chance they'll do anything?

I'm running Win 7 Pro on a BootCamp partition with my MacBook. He is suspect... lol

So I got that micro sd card that is class 10 sony & still every time I get near any type of metro area at all my 720 freezes up. This thing has basically become good for anything that is away from metro areas but once you get into Dallas, Atlanta, Macon, Savannah, B.R., Mobile, it freezes. Short of throwing it out the window while doing 70, any thoughts on this? I am just disgusted that I paid all that money for something that does not even work worth a penny after their map update.

Ya the program was GIMP, when I uninstalled it the dock launched perfect.
