Sounds like the Firmware is corrupted. Contact RM and see if they have an OS firmware to reinstall the Firmware. My experience with older models when you get the WINCE (Windows CE) then the firmware install is a 50/50 shot it will normally again.
I have not seen the 720 corrupt the firmware, so this is a new one.
You would want the FULL OS Firmware. This will include the Firmware plus files. Count on anything you have saved on the 720 as lost.
I will look around my computer to see if I have the 720 Firmware install.
Thanks,
Mark

This person says he has a TND 710 not the 720, maybe firmware is getting a little bit dated. -
Ah you are right.. Good pain meds.. same thing will apply.. Corrupted Firmware, a 50/50 chance of it being recovered with a OS Firmware update.
In my opinion I would not try to recover it. I know in the older models if you did not do a Safe Dismount of the device from the computer the handshaking via the USB cable from the device and the computer you stood the chance of corrupting the Firmware.

Thanks. I have finally gotten it to boot into the OS, and actually got it to stay powered long enough to get the RND software to install on my laptop (Windows 10). When I tried running the D&R, it got about halfway thru checking the files then froze up. I'll be sitting for most today, so I'm going to make call in to RMCS, and see if there is anything they can do by remote connection.

This is new. Was getting the other TND 730 ready to take to the wife by making sure it was updated. After installing the update that was available I shut down the dock then turned the unit off before disconnecting from my pc, upon turning the unit off I got the loud DING, same one you get when the unit crashes, then it shut down and I unplugged it. I reconnect to PC and unit started as normal so did a D/R and found 21 files that needed fixing, did that and shut everything down again and once again got the DING when turning the unit off before disconnecting from PC.
Now, the unit hasn't been used, have kept it updated and charged so why would 21 files need fixing and why am I getting the Gong when shutting it down.
Am going to be leaving here in an hr or so to meet her on the road to take her the other unit as her's is crashing quite regularly.
Thanks

So RMCS Rep just killed my 710. If you do have a copy of the latest TND 710 firmware, and upload them along with flashing instructions for me, I would be extremely appreciative. If not, its not a big deal. The rep sent me a gratis RMA, but I dont trust that they will not find another problem that the RMA doesn't cover.

A good example is the other day, I placed a route from Denver to Lenexa. I knew I would hit the toll around Topeka but it never popped up. I stopped at exit 341 for a thirty (Maple Hill) it recalculated from that spot and then said "your route incurs tolls" also I have left from our terminal in KCKS to go to Lawrence. It will also not show tolls unless I pull off and it recalculates.

I suspect the MD5 is different on your computer than the unit. I hear the "Ding" also, but it is in the firmware that is generated. As you watched the files, what folders or files were they?
Thanks,

At this point with you getting the WINCE, the firmware may/may not constantly have issues. Like I mentioned before, with the older firmware OS updates it is a 50/50 shot if it will work correctly again. I am not trying to have you buy another unit, but in working with the WINCE errors, you are not going to be on a winning path.
PM me your Name/address (no PO boxes) and I will find the 710 OS firmware, but again with the note that this may not fix the issue.
Thanks,
Mark
