I bought this USB power hub off Amazon to supply power to my 520 and my phone. My phone is using up power big time with all the things activated during my work day and throw in the power needed to keep the 520 powered up and in the green. This high output charger does the job. It keeps the 520 in the green and quick charges my phone simultaneously.

How do you charge the unit on that?
-
You can charge or run 5 things. It has 5 sockets. Or up to 8 amps. I bought a pack of 10 usb cables on Amazon for $11.00. Just make sure you get the correct end that fits the gps. It is different than most newer phones.
I'm going to start leaving my factory cable at home to preserve it and use a generic usb cable in the truck. Since the factory cable seems to be the only one that will allow me to connect to the dock. I don't want to ruin that and have to buy another.
Hang on for minute and I'll go out to my duffel bag and take a pic of it hooked up and post it here.
So here's mine but of course I can't take the picture if the phone is there but the yellow usb cable goes to the phone. The black one is going to the RM 520.
I can use another cable and hook up my tablet. Maybe even a small laptop. Depends on the amps being drawn.
Think of it as an outlet strip like for your house same thing but for usb cable things.
Here's a random shot of my dash I took weeks ago for no particular reason but the unit is there and you can see it leaves a spaghetti of wires. But I have to leave them out in the open cause I remove everything nightly.Last edited: Aug 29, 2014

I have the 7in TND unit. It has sat for a few months unplugged and unused. I got it out the other day and plugged it in but it will not turn on now. Does anyone have a idea what might have happened or how to get it to boot up? Thanks

I have a 720 with LT maps and when I boot up I get a warning that my map db is more than 1 year old. When I dock I only seem to get construction zone updates. Several reconstructed freeways or new sections are missing and Tom is freaking out trying to reroute me as I drive thru a river ie. the I-70 bridge in St Louis or off road in Idaho I-84 at the 173 get off/on or just yesterday as I was doing 65 on City streets of Irving TX when I was on the 114. Have I missed something or is the data that far behind? And has it been over a year since the last map update? Thanks.

quick question about 12v plug. i know Mark told a while back on how to fix loose mini usb plug into gps. cant find comment anywhere. plug is coming loose while driving down the road.

Take a pair of needle nose and gently very gently but progressively crimp it until it fits snug again. Will work for awhile several times over a period of months then it won't work anymore and it's toast. Make sure to loop the cord through the mount if you aren't already so there's no strain on it when it's plugged in so it will hang free instead of the weight of the cable hanging on the plug. Will extend the life of it a little

Thanks,

If it says you are on the latest maps, then there is a file that just needs to be deleted to reset the clock for maps. I can tell you what file if you are a little computer savvy.
I'll verify those locations later today or tomorrow on the next set of release maps (no date yet for publication)
