I drive a truck. I'm rarely home. Concord is little more than a mailing address to me.

True, Memory issues usually come from not turning it off. It has limited internal memory and all the screens you go to load into memory. Thus you should turn it off every 3-4 days at the most.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I have no issues with shipping to drivers on the road. Done it many a time.

I just went through your 25 pages of posts and I did not see anywhere where you posted on the TND in the support thread or any other thread about your issues. Now that you know where the support thread is, don't shoot your unit, post here and I will help.

    Thanks,
    Mark

You are right.. you got an Memory Popup and you did state between posts 3428-3430 that you did not turn it off very often. I posted on 3431 how to resolve that issue on Jan 15, 2017,, page 344. This is now April. Since you no longer posted anything anymore, I would take it turning the TND off/on every 3-4 days resolved the issue..

Now you mention nothing about "bricking" or freezing.. You only mentioned the "Memory Low" message..

If you still did have issues with the unit why did you not repost the "issue(s)" you were still having or if you were still having the "Low Memory" issue????

I cannot read minds and if the user does not repost if they are having other issues, I cannot help them.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I got 2 730's love them for the most part, I run Walmart Dedicated from Schneider & unless I go work out of another DC, I probably don't need them anyway... Love the Latitude & Longitude, The ETA & Speed warning...
It's probably in this long thread somewhere, but I get something like this sometimes on the screen...

"navi" file has encountered an error

    Thanks,

Now out of curiosity. I haven't payed much attention to what OS the 520/720/530/730 are running. But you mentioned you worked in electronics for years. So then we both realize that using your RAM, is a good thing, you want to use your available RAM.

Is the OS just that bad at managing it's RAM? Like, early early android phones bad? What OS is it actually running, that in this year of 2017, that the OS is so bad at managing it's RAM, that it needs to be rebooted so often? Or is the software just coded in a way that there is some sort of memory leak in the code, where rand mcnally's software just eventually fills it for no reason, causing the problems people have with leaving them on. Combination of all of the above perhaps?

Not sure how much knowledge you actually have available to you concerning that stuff, but I figured I would ask, as it seems pretty bad, that in this day and age, and how far technology and software has come, that rand mcnally is that far back towards the original android phones when it comes to hardware/software RAM issues, where clearing your RAM by rebooting your phone, or an app was a necessity?
