    OK Mark
I got a new issue going on now with my 740.
it keeps going into screen saver mode.
driving down the road, GPS running and screen saver comes up. tap screen get map. 10 seconds later- 5 mins later (totally random) back to screen saver.
I'm thinking it has to do with the connection to base. but how do i fix it??

Your first location - on the top, search - to the right is guided search. Then it will take you to the prior TND screen on other TND's. Put in your address and on the routing page, bottom left - set origin. then put in second address.

    Thanks,
    mark

RM does not own the Map Database. RM can "add" or "Merge" our DB's as needed, IE - restrictions, but the quarterly update does not "correct" the current map database, but the program sees the update and uses that data to post more current restrictions/speeds.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I go directly to the person in charge of the file. And yes you can.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Sounds like battery mode, battery is running low.

Go to Main Screen/Cog (bottom left)/System Settings (top right)/battery (left towards bottom)/ - what % of battery charge do you see on the Slice? It should be going up towards 100%. If it is headed down, then try a Micro USB to DC directly to the 740 on left side and see if the battery % goes up. If it does then it is the Slice.

    Thanks,
    Mark

100% - it is Always on the dock and the Dock is Always plugged in so 98% of the time its charging
when it has gone to screen mode, i have noticed when i tap it, if i also wiggle it, it goes back and forth to map/screen saver

    > so the updated Restrictions from RM have little to no effect on routing then? Boy, its just that a general 2 yr delay to get road/routes updates just seems like we are using snail mail today while our email is running on a 1 TB system. there has to be a better way

I have no idea what it looks like as it is mounted into the dash. I have to use a small screwdriver just to slip in and push down the red button on top to turn it on.

A friend had a similar unit but I think his was the tablet style, not built into the dash like mine. I will ask the shop guys when I get back tomorrow.

    Thanks for your help.
