I have the TND 500 that has been doing the same thing, it lags behind were I am at about 30 seconds, it does it intermittently. Have called Tech support, and have had no resolutions.

well got a new 710 the 3rd of this mo., did not work out the box. talked
to support. They sent return label next day air. said as soon as they got
it they would send me a new one next day air. ( Lie ) After not seeing new unit and calling support three times 5 days latter they said they fixed
and tested the unit and have sent it back to me. I got it on 3/17/2011
charged it up full turned it on set truck info entered test route took off
and never got gps signal. ( 1 hr driving ). checked all I could even reset
nothing. Looked at date on gps was 5/2/2010 tried to reset no luck. called
support they said thats funny they tested before sending it back. I told them that they could not have do to the date of last gps signal 5/2/2010. Date is set when it gets a signal. they now sent a return label next day air and said again they will send a new unit not the same one after they get mine. Now for this being new just came out this year why would it
have a date on calander of 5/2/2010. seems like they took a 700 and tried to make it a 710. we will see how thing go but after spending $449.00
for this unit as new I am not happy with what I I know about what they
are doing but I will see come wednesday that when they said my new one will be here. Will not hold my breath. -
I'm getting the map database error on my tnd 700. In the window it says to update the tnd and if that doesn't work to call support. Over the past three days i have tried all the updates from the TND Dock, and the database error still pops up. It says that the map license has expired on 3/15/11. why should we have to update our maps on a constant basic. I can't even use the dumb GPS becuae this error causes up, I can't be repair this unit all the time.
Can I return it for my $500 back? Only had the unit since Sept 2010. should of bought a garmin unit....
so unhappy with the GPS -
I picked up a 510 TND fri from the pilot $349 minus the $100 on my rewards card $277 out the door. Only used it 3 hrs but so far so good. Lots of features. I'll put it to the test this week. Ill post what I think.

My 710 works awesome, I like the mileage mark and the lat/long input, plus the zip code look up. Only complaint is the #### thing indicates that the speed limit for trucks at some places is greater than 55 mph in CA when any self respecting trucker knows it is max of 55 mph and cant make any money in this god forsaken state of the union
