When you change any screen, like truck Info, give the TND at least 30 seconds to save the new information.
Screens are polled x amount of seconds each minute. For example the screen may be polled only every 20 seconds to see if any data fields have changed.
What you input or change is saved in a data field in the software. All computers poll these data fields every so often to see if the data has changed.
If you change a field like truck weigh and then power the TND off, once powered back on the data will stay the same as it was before you changed it. If you wait about 30 seconds then your new data will be saved upon power off. This is most important when you are shutdown and making changes to the TND. Give the TND about 30 seconds and then you can power the TND off without risk of new data not being saved.
Thanks,
Mark

A new feature in Version 1573 is the "current trip" folder. This current trip folder is basically a one time use for each route or trip. Once that trip is done all locations are gone in this folder.
Lets look at a Single Stop trip.
When you enter in your destination and hit "begin route" this location is saved in the history folder. Your TND also routes to this location. In addition the destination is now saved in the Set Destination\Multi-Stops\Current Trip folder.
Multi-stop trip.
If you use a route or stops frequently then it is suggested that you create those stops in a new Multi-stop folder.
Once you select that trip from a saved folder the destinations are now copied over to the "Current trip" folder. If you need to delete\add\rearrange any destinations then use the "current trip" folder. Any changes you make in the "current trip" folder does not affect your orginal Multi-Stop folder. As destinations are arrived at the location drops out of the "current trip" folder.
If you plan a route to a destination as as single stop, but later decide to add stops along the way, you simple add these as VIA points and now your "current trip" folder becomes a multi-stop. Note: any locations added as a VIA point does not get saved in the history folder.
You can skip the next stop from the Map screen, go to the bottom left and hit the COG, you will see on the next screen on the right side the button to skip the current destination.
If you are not in any type of routing the "current trip" folder cannot be accessed.
This folder allows you to make on the fly stops in your current routing.

Can't get the ntd 500 dock to see the gps, Could someone send the file i am missing?

hi i have a new 700 about two weeks old and to be honest im not really happy with it her is why it lags i have gone by my exit before it shows exit, i have had it to route me with some of the craziest routes on secondary roads. in atlanta on i75 it tells to exit on a hov exit. i have had it to lock up calculating route and i had to restart it to get it to unlock. another thing i have noticed it has poor battery life. i called rand mcnally and was told to change some setting and call back if it keeps having problems. ok well still having problems. starting to think i have a 500 dollar paperweight maybe other not having these problems if they are drivers will stop buying them

Please list details on some of the issues you listed above. RM cannot check to see how the TND reacts unless given some details.
Thanks,

It's not that it couldn't find a particular intersection. If you pressed the find intersection button it comes back "none found". As though there were no roads at all in sioux falls to create intersections. -
They may not be dropping the brightness back at the levels they should but I wouldn't know that never having a proper working one. I just know it is way bright on its highest setting and still too bright on its lowest.
I put a 20% friction applied tint on it and that brings it down to tolerable. The white bar at the bottom still comes through too bright. The functions are unhindered, it reads my screen presses like before. I might try a second layer but I think that will be too dark for the daytime. -

Here's a fun bug. Routing from Cross Timbers, Mo to Triplett, Mo. It goes up 65 to 36, across to 11, and back down. Ignores all routes in between, like 24. Once I turned on 24 it recalculated to an even longer route so I poked at it. It had me going all the way down 24 to 63, north to the first exit to turn around and come all the way back on 24 to turn north on 11.
Mark Kling Thanks this. -
Also using the TND with the tint on it during the day makes it a little too dark for my taste. Haven't run with it at night too see anything yet.
Another routing bug: Leave the Petro in Elkton,Md to go to walmart at 1000 E Pulaski in Elkton. It routes correctly. When I tried to go back I just poked the Petro icon on the screen and told it to route me there. It takes you 8 miles past the correct turnoff on 213, I turn anyway and now when I should go right on 279 to go to the truckstop it wants to go left. Silly gps.
