Have you called Rand Support so they can send you a DC cord?
The 1st unit; if you have the receipt I would contact Rand Support before the 1 year warranty runs out.
Thanks,
Mark

I don't have a receipt for the first unit, I have one for the second, when I purchased the 710 it obviously came with a new DC cord, which I tried on the first unit to no avail, the port itself is the problem, it is loose inside the unit, the second one is starting to do the same, one problem is the small round magnet located about four inches from the plug, its weight, combined with bouncing around on crappy roads is partially to blame (my opinion) either way it shouldn't do this, I have a Motorola cell phone with the same type of mini USB port which has been connected and disconnected thousands of time without fail, there is a problem inside the unit itself, maybe a lack of support for the connection is to blame? I don't know, what I do know is, I have spent about $950.00 in less than a year for something that doesn't work, I hate to bash RAND, the GPS itself is amazing, the only improvement would be to fix this issue and no other brand would come close to matching it, I have been to truckstops and heard other drivers say the same thing, word of mouth is the best advertising, RAND should listen to the people who have issues, this is definitely not a one time occurring issue, just reading a few posts will tell you that.
One other problem I forgot to mention was, I don't dare disconnect the power cord, (since I have had the unit I have disconnected it 17 times) I cannot update it. I would also add, I carefully disconnect and reconnect the unit EVERY time, that is not an issue. -
I have had the 500 for nearly two years. I have the power cord wrapped around the mount so that there is no weight on the port. I have not had a problem with my GPS but lost a cell phone because this. I think it is good practice to make sure any cords are not hanging on any electronics in the truck. -

I got the update last week and was able to run 2500 miles this week. I have to say that it is great. Like the new warnings for curves and hills, and the zip code search. Was nice to see several corrections on roads included and updated that I had turned in.
Here are some things that are still on my Rand wish list.
- True via points, with turn by turn the entire trip.
- The ability to search for cross streets/intersections without knowing what city the are in. You really should be able to search for the intersection of 224 and 511 in ohio without looking at the map book to guess what city it is.
- Not to have the warning screen take up the entire screen, a small box or verbal only option would be better. Hate when it comes up when I am looking for a cross street or something.
- Frequent map updates. Once the research is done this information should be pushed out at least quarterly.
SteveMark Kling Thanks this. -
I would like to thank RM for finally getting the screen to dim down far enough to allow me to get rid of the window tint I had on it.
As an additional thought, please make it so you can have saved preferences for daytime brightness and nighttime brightness separately.
I'm with the people that preferred the bigger speed display rather than the little circle.
I don't understand now after this update it either can't find rest areas via poi search intermittently or messes up the trip odometer readings or forgets to log the miles by state.?!
I'm also with NMR, lose the giant warning screens, they pop up when you really need to see something else.NMR Thanks this. -
If you do not have the receipt, do you have a Credit card statement? An RMA will be difficult without proof of purchase since it is been a long time since you bought it.
Thanks,

You get close to a shipper/consignee and the TND seems to take the long way around - Drop your trailer settings to 96" wide and 48' long - chances you are on a Non-STAA route. If your trailer is set to 102" wide or 53' long or both you will not be routed on Non-STAA routes.
It will not route you to the shipper/consignee - drop to car mode and see if it routes.
a. NO - then it is in the Maps, submit a Tell Rand so that we may get it corrected.
b. Yes - then their is a truck restriction that may/may not be correct. Submit a Tell Rand or post here so that we can get back to you.
Just because other trucks drive on that road does not make it truck legal. many states do not post restrictions.
If you come across a restriction and the TND did not route you around it, post it here with the details or submit a Tell Rand. Rand cannot correct what they do not know about.
If you have routing issues, give me the start/stop and the area you are having issues with. Rand can run demo mode and also check on the latest maps in process.
Rand's goal is to give you the most accurate data so that you can route with the feeling you are on a truck legal road.
As always, drop me an E-Mail if you have an issue that needs to be resolved or want me to get it ASAP.
If your TND has issues contact Rand Support ASAP so that they may take care of your needs. The sooner the better. Make a copy of the Receipt and keep it with the TND, so that if you are on the road you have a copy. You can always scan the receipt and save it as a PDF file and keep it on your computer too.
thanks,
Mark
