Our 710 stopped talking (or making any other sound) after only about 2 months. We decided that we need a backup GPS to use while one is getting repaired or replaced. So we just purchased another 710 and my husband will use that one while we work on getting the first one fixed or replaced.

My question is whether it is ok to use the same dock that we installed on the computer for the first unit. I backed up the first unit to the dock and after the second unit is done charging I was going to transfer that information to the second unit from the backup of the first unit. When I did the backup I did not do a full backup. Will it be ok to use restore to transfer everything to the second unit, which of course means have to use the same dock.

Just want to make sure I don't mess anything up. Also should I do an update on the new unit before or after the restore?

    Thank you for your help.

Never mind, I ran out of time, husband had to get back on the road. So I took a chance and used the restore from the first 710 and then did an update. It seems to be working ok right now, but we will see what happens as he goes down the road. Hopefully this unit will last longer than the first, at least until we get the first one replaced or repaired anyway.

Sorry, I just got home. When you need an answer right away please E-Mail me as it will go to my phone.

    Restore, then update. Correct

After a restore it would not hurt to first verify all your user information moved over to the "new" unit, then reconnect and update.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I didn't say I waited 4 months to call CSR, just that it was only 4 months old when I had the problem.

Call Cust support, no receipt needed for the 710.

    Thanks,
