Mark let me start by saying sorry for the way I posted that. I shouldn't post when tired.

Anyhow West 15th Avenue gary IN just off of the 912. A few truck companies have terminals there. The exit and ramp onto the 912 is right there where my yard is! You can see it from the yard. Yet the TND 700 will route you way out of the way if you want to get onto the 912. Even if you ignore the GPS, it will recalculate and send you way off in another direction. IE North when you want to go South.

I think most errors I have will disappear as map errors are found. But that's just another reason to give drivers an easy way to "Point and choose" waypoints right on the map.

Thanks Mark. Your answers are timely.

    Morning Mark.

Well I updated the TND500 and am not sure how I feel about it now. I am still experiancing the occasional lag and the routing continues to befuddle me. The following routing for fastest isn't---

Liberal, Ks to Roseville, MN: US54-US283-US56-KS156-I70-US81-I80-I35

    Way I actually went: US54-KS61-US50-I35

With respect, you need to impress on RM the need for pratical routing-which encompasses elements of both Fastest ans Shortest depnding on origin/ destination points. Looks to me ( sorry, this is my opinion though) that RM mostly dealt with the eye-candy issues and not much really substantive. So, thinking I am going to put it up for a while and monitor this list and see where they go from here.

Mark (but not the same Mark)

Mark found an error in the course of a trip.... this one happens all the time. Iowa highway 60 from the Minnesota line to about 20 miles into Iowa is a recently completed interstate type road now.... yet as I take this route, it will actually show me going off the highway and traveling through a field till it rejoins 60.

No GPS, no electronic piece of equipment will ever be perfect, but wanted to let you know I continued to be impressed with the TND700. Just wish it would have been available when I first bought a truck GPS back in march.

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

Some thing I have noted with version 1573

When having the unit calculate a route in fast or short, the results are all the same.

Did any changes get made to the software that does the route calculations?

Any news on when a map data update may be available?

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

I send your info up to RM to see what they come up with. They can go more indepth as to the routing and see where the routing is showing off.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Until the release of the new mapping database some of the newer construction area's are going to be off in the current mapping database.

Please also note: normally new construction may take up to a year to find its way into the major mapping companies....

    thanks,
    Mark

RM has noticed some areas are not behaving well in shortest\fastest routing. Fastest would be the better bet. This was found towards the latter part of the version and instead of holding up version 1573, RM went ahead and released Version 1573. The shortest routing is a little oddball in some area's.

Many changes were made to coding that would affect routing. As in any code, this cannot be helped. Routers were touched in certain area's \cities such as NY.

The new mapping database has not been given a final release date yet. A lot of information has been corrected. NYC has been highly looked at. So far NYC is looking good. Tell Rands are all looked at and the database is being corrected. This is a major project. Your information is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mark
