Good call on the light... I will have to query RM..

Your battery indicator should come on and on the main screen when you are on battery power... the little yellow battery indicator only comes on when you are down to about 5 minutes of battery power...

    Thanks,
    Mark

The light on the side is a charging indicator... red - charging, green - charged... once it is on battery power the light does not show any color because it is not charging... the battery indicator should show up on the main map screen and when you are down to 5 minutes of battery you should see a little yellow battery in the left upper corner on all screens.

    Thanks,
    Mark

The 90 degree Rand supplied DC cord does go bad at the 90 degree bend sometimes, or you wish to have a straight connector due to placement of your TND.

If your Rand supplied DC cord does go bad, then RM will replace it. Either call Tech Support or E-Mail me.

If you choose to buy a generic DC charger from a Truck Stop or one that you have, it may or may not work. Most of the ones I have tried do work, but no guarantees.

The TND uses a 5 pin USB connector, with the +\- being on the outside pins. Things to watch out for if you chose to use your own DC USB connector.

    a)4 pin USB connectors
b)dummy pins in one or more of the USB slots on your DC Cable
    c)power output. (TND 500 - 5vdc/1.0 amps, TND 700 - 5vdc/2 amps)

If your TND is damaged using a non-supplied Rand McNally USB DC charger, be aware Rand may or may not honor the warranty.

Even though your USB DC charger may work, Rand cannot approve of such items. There are too many out there for Rand to test each and everyone. Just be aware.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Another routing anomaly, going southwest on the bluegrass parkway ,which the tnd wouldn't even route me on, as I approached us 150 it told me to get off and go north to I65 then go south. I ignored it and went past and it tried to get me to exit and go back up the BGP back to us150 even though I was 13 miles past it.

And as I have said repeatedly, the tiny little icon for the low battery is so hard to see that I've only noticed it once. Think about it, do they really expect us to look at the gps every 5 minutes all day long? It's worthless. And mine does not even show up at all now.

Mine has had the light on all the time when it was on since I got it. It showed green for charged, red for charging, and red when unplugged. That's why I noticed it was different now.

I posted a while back about the fact that my HP i7 64Bit Windows 7 laptop does not respond at all when I plug in the GPS. I have had it recognize one of the internal devices before but I know there are 2 to be installed. When I plug it in I hear no acknowledgement of a USB device being plugged in and the display on the GPS does not change at all, it stays on the main meny screen. I did call Rand McNally when I first got the unit and twice they took my cell number and said they will call me back but as to this date some 3 months later I have not heard from them.

Does anyone else have a similar setup as to Windows 7 64Bit? Are you having similar problems. Or maybe is it HP? I really need to get this thing updated.

Mark are ya out there.... Help.............:biggrin_25523:
