first off thank you for this forum very informative. My TND 700 died today and was wondering if the backup data will import into to a 710 or will it have to be another 700 thanks in advance

DO NOT hit the update on the 710 before you follow the steps below.

It will import/export to any model.

Just connect your new TND to the Dock and on the top row, 2nd from the left hit the Backup/Restore button.

Hit the restore (not all) and if it asks about data from a different model say yet.

Then after the restore hit update....

    Thanks,
    Mark

heres a problem I reciently had

I was given a location on 3rd street in Bondsville MA 01069; well, no Bondsville- ok I know some places use more historical names etc and expected the zip code feature to at least give me a listing of the streets within that zip code defined area and get me going in the right direction but- ah ha, apparently this zip code does not exist in the rm 500 as it wouldn t allow me to enter it. so the zip code feature is not such a big help as I expected. My $14 Michelin map book has Bondsville and Versailes MA located, why doesn t my $300+ gps ? I honestly don t want to have ask dispatch for lat long co ords to locate a drop.

I can find it on mine. When was the last time you updated. I will also check to see if the file I have is the same one available for production.

I went by address, zip, street, but you did not give me a business number.

    Thanks,
    Mark

oh really ? thats odd, there was another driver at the same place had a rm 500 or 510 ( reciently bought so I assume the 510), and he didn t have it on his either- the building number is quite irelevant when the initial entry doesn t even provide a match for the town. My last update was perhaps a month ago,( I have been rather wary of those updates lately) are you trying to suggest this location is very new ?

I got a TND here on production with the latest free maps, Oct 2010 with the files off the TND Dock. I went to address/zip and entered in 01069, The 9 will not appear, but give it a sec or two and it will ask for street. I find 3rd st.

I deleted the two files that would control the zip codes and the Dock did rebuild them.

How far are you getting before it will not allow an entry? Did you try city center by zip?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    You adjusted the brightness?

If so, did you contact Customer support yet?

On DC, does the power light go green? Should take about 4-5 hours, 3 hours on AC.

    Thanks,
    Mark
