Hi all, something strange started happening the last few times I have updated my 710, after disconnecting from the computer it wont restart until I hit the reset button in the side.
Is this a problem with the unit or the software?

Rand is aware, but it is always suggested that on a PC based machine and Mac machine that the USB device either be safety ejected or turned off before the cable is disconnected. It is a much more graceful disconnection.

    Thanks,
    Mark

How does the TND700 calculate routes? Reason I ask is that I had a delivery from Westfield,MA to Yardley,PA. Its set for fastest route on the setting but yet it seems to be calculating for shortest instead. Well anyways, It wanted me to get off New Jersey Turnipke (I-95) to Rt1 to just jump back onto I-95. Well RT1 has a light at about every 150 ft. Once you get up to speed your back on the brakes to stop at the next light. It should of been to stay on the Turnpike(I-95) to I-195. Does the TND calculate for lights?

Another thing is Low Clearances -13'6". It never matches what your Road Atlas 2010 book says. In PA traveling south bound on I-79 to get onto I-76 It will give you a Low clearance warning and try to redirect you onto RT19. There is no low clearance on 79. In Connecticut I-95 and I-84 Has no low clearance issue for 13'6" but yet It will try to redirect you.

The Low Clearances need to get updated and corrected. A lot of these low clearances are wrong. Or at the very least match what your book says.

    Thanks

I have had the 500 for around 8 months now, and I must say its one of the most accurate I have used. My old co-driver had the 7 inch cobra and half the address your tryed to put in where not found.

    Now, for my support issue
My built-in speaker is no longer working. It will work for around half a word and then cut out. I am using the plug in slot for sound and having no problems. Any ideas how to fix the speaker? I have no idea where I put the recipt hence why I can't send it back to rand:biggrin_25521:. Thought maybe you have a quick fix? Also, please for the love of god update the maps so MO-5 in MO is fixed. Got my first accident today following my gps which is really my own stupidty for not watching the signs. Only other thing, it freezes up about once a month, but I never turn it off so probley again my fault.

When did they start charging for maps? I updated mine last time I was home through TNDDOCK and never saw anything about having to pay for updates??

    PM/E-Mail me about speaker.

Location of MO-5? start/stop so Rand can look at.

Should be turned off about every 2-3 days to clear out items in memory such as screens, POI's, etc.

Maps for the most current version are being charged. TND Dock will not notify you of this. Updates are free, but Map upgrades are not. There is a one time fee.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Mark, for about the last month or so my TND 500 has been losing the miles. Seems that if I get off route and it recalculates the miles function goes blank. and will not come back or keep track of miles until I cut it off or hit the reset. Then I have to guess the miles I've went since it messed up and add them. It is becoming a real issue because I might drive several hundred miles before I check the mile logs. It will also lose the miles if I add a stop or delete a stop.

Interesting, have not heard this one yet.

Serial number off the back please.

When you say miles function - what screen are you referring to?

If it is the timers and logs/logs screen, does everything go blank?

    Thanks,
    Mark
