Let's set up a time for me to look at your unit. I use TeamViewer to allow me access to your computer so I can see the TND files. If you wish to go this route then let me know.

I stand corrected, I have seen this before and it was a wrong file on the customers unit.

If you are computer savvy then I can point you to folder/files.

    Thanks,
    mark

Connect your TND to the computer, close the Dock.

Look under computer for two external drives. On the T5B only. Look for the drive that has the NaviMaps, NaviVoices, and RM folders.

Double click on the RM folder and then double click on the User folder. Tell me what files you see there?

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Mark,

I posted months ago about the exact same issue skytrends described. As long as no changes are made to the original route the mileage log is okay. Add a stop or via, change to a different route, even get off the road for a fuel stop and have it recalculate, and the miles will no longer accumulate unless the unit is powered off and back on. Everyone having this issue had it begin after the last major update 2-3 months ago from what I've seen. I should have mentioned it before sending you my unit for the other problem, but I'd gotten so accustomed to dealing with it by rebooting every time I make a route change that I forgot to mention it.

Thanks again for bringing my T5B back to life. Got it back yesterday morning. I don't know what other brand would have someone fix a receiver a year out of warranty like you did (and continue to do for the community).

Honestly, I don't think some drivers will be happy with any GPS until it drives the truck for them and backs up to the dock then delivers the freight, while brewing a fresh cup of coffee to be ready when they wake up. :)

So true,,, A lot of drivers fail to understand that Truck GPS's did not really come into the market till about 3-4 years ago. The map data held truck attributes, but were not really checked. The data was just entered. A person in a car would if rarely call in if a road was wrong. When Truck GPS's came onto the market then the issues with roads and truck attributes are now being seen as a Professional Driver rely's on the GPS for his business or livelyhood.

Rand is constantly updating and verifing the truck attributes that are seen by you, the driver as they are send in via the Tell Rands. Road issues are part of the main core maps and those are sent in to NavTeq. NavTeq will verify the roads and correct their maps. This process takes time.

When you do your Dock updates, you get the POI's, Global POI's, and construction (every two weeks). Versions come out about every four months.

Issues with roads and truck attributes if noted here on this thread can be checked with the next set of Maps in Beta. If truck attributes are found to be incorrect Rand can correct. Roads are still send back to NavTeq.

You really only need to do a Dock update about once a month.

But, I would suggest that you do a back up (not full) at least weekly. Thus if your unit fails you still have your IFTA mileage, but it is only a week old.

If you send your TND in for RMA, do the same. Do a backup (not full) and when you get your replacement TND do a restore (not full) and then an update.

Speed limits are tied to the Maps. The last set was released and at the same time VA decided to raise the speed limit. Rand is looking at a way to update the speed limits as a Dock update instead of waiting for the next version of Maps.

POI's - Rand is aware of the mergers and as our POI source is corrected then this will be send out via the TND Dock.

The size of the fonts has been increased back again. This will be in the next version.

Rand is comitted to this product. They understand that you rely on this day by day to make your decsions that affect your paychecks.

I have no qualms spending 2-5 days working on an issue that you may have. I along with Rand are here to help you get the most out of your TND.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    repost -

Connect your TND to the computer, close the Dock.

Look under computer for two external drives. On the T5B only. Look for the drive that has the NaviMaps, NaviVoices, and RM folders.

Double click on the RM folder and then double click on the User folder. Tell me what files you see there?

I am interested if you see a file called truck.db-journal

Also open the Dock with the TND connected, top row, 3rd from left, show Intelliroute TND Info - click on this. Bottom line shows map version. What is it?

    Thanks,
    Mark
