Does it do the same with the AC cord? If so, then it is the unit, if not the DC cord. Call tech support.
Thanks,

Mark,
now that I have a 500 and a 510, will TND dock keep backups separate for each unit? Do I just connect each one normally every week or two for updates? I don't want any software screwups! -
I have gone from the biggest fan of my 710, who talked at least a dozen drivers into purchasing one, to someone who is majorly disappointed in the product.
Starting about six weeks ago, it would lose signal for one leg of my trip, and not find it for about an hour. Thought it might have just been from it being a cloudy day, until it did it again a few days later and would not find satellites until I stopped. Then thought it might be from having not updated it in about three months, so I updated it, and it did it again a few days later.
Odd thing to me is that it did it for the first time on, what I'm pretty sure is, exactly one year to the day from my date of purchase.
Every week it gets worse, going from doing it a few times a week, to every day, to where it was working maybe an average of half the time, and even less in the past two days. For example, it only worked for 46 miles of the 384 I drove yesterday and 70-something of the 501 I drove today.
I have not moved the unit in my truck since January, and there should be nothing new blocking the signal. Have been updating every weekend, which seems to help it work better on Monday than it does at the end of the week. Turning it off and/or hitting reset button does nothing other than making it real bright if I do it in the middle of the night and it does not understand the time to dim the screen. I forget the exact wording, but I can see that it sees the satellites, but will not connect to them.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. I'm tight on cash at the moment, and don't have the money to buy a new unit. If I did, based on this I might go back to my loyalty with Garmin (my 12 y/o and my 7 y/o units still work just fine), except that I don't want to lose the irreplaceable data I have in my Rand unit.
Any suggestions? -
When you update, the Dock Senses the Device ID and will download the correct files for the unit connected.
Thanks,

Loving the prefer freeways + shortest route option. Thanks for that!

I bought a TND 510 about a week ago. The speaker went out yesterday so I swapped it at loves. Just curious, I got the 510 because I didn't want the issues of the 710. Is the 510 plagued with problems also?
