Logs do not look right. If you are willing I would like to remote into your Computer to look at the Cache files. I use Team Viewer. We would have to set up a time that is good for you.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Sure, Just download Team Viewer, E-Mail me the ID and PW. When you start TeamViewer up each time the PW changes for security.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Purchased a 500 2 months ago (Pilot) 1st one locked up and wouldn't come on. traded in and have not had a issue with it so far. Was concerned with low battery life, my son said to keep it plugged in, since its constantly looking for sat. Did not trust it initially (old school army map/compass/protractor) but it has put me in front of a address. I've found the key to this gps is to pretrip (paper map/pc-miler) and get physical address and it works just fine. Oh and call shipper/receiver for with GATE you need to be at. Address could be the office, but actual load/unload maybe a block away or a mile away, just saying.

    Gears Thanks this.

Battery life on the 510 is about 3 hours.

True, sometimes the address on your BOL is not the address you need to pickup/drop off.

    Thanks,
    Mark

For those who are interested and are having an issue with the 510 and/or TND's connecting and/or updating.

    A. Does the TND Dock show the "IntelliRoute Connected" in orange?

    1. no -

Does the computer see the device?

Go to your start up menu/computer - look for an external drive - it may say IntelliRoute or something else. It should have a Navi Folder at the least.

no - Then you can try a USB power Hub or try setting your computer power settings to high.
    - Try a shorter USB cable. 1' or a 6" cable.

yes - Then if you look on your C:\ under start up menu\computers - look for a folder called C:\logs. These are your TND Dock logs. Send me the last couple that show up. The current day will say TNDDock.txt, the others will say TNDDockxxxxxx.log (xxxxxx = date).

    2. Yes

Then if you look on your C:\ under start up menu\computers - look for a folder called C:\logs. These are your TND Dock logs. Send me the last couple that show up. The current day will say TNDDock.txt, the others will say TNDDockxxxxxx.log (xxxxxx = date).

    +++++++++++++++++++++

If you look at your current TND Log after you try to update and see this -

    Application Startup.
    10/28/2011 12:46:04: INFO 1 Program - TimeZone=Eastern Standard Time OSVersion=Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Screen Resolution=1280 AppVersion=2.0.8.0
10/28/2011 12:46:05: WARN 1 Program - Firewall Enabled But Exceptions Not Allowed
10/28/2011 12:46:06: INFO 1 Program - Initial Check for Connected TND

I would suggest you to try a shorter USB cable - 6" or 1".

Some of the newer computers either 32 bit/win7 or 64 bit/win7 might have an issue due to the way Win7 controls the USB ports. Try shorter USB cables or a Power USB Hub.

If all else fails, then contact me.

    +++++++++++++++++++

The TND Dock loads itself in a hidden folder on your C:\. I have seen where when the install is correct you cannot update since the TND Dock first saves your user folders. Some computers will not save these folders due to a security permissions issue.

Some computers simply put the hidden folders in a wrong path and the TND Dock cannot find it.

Some XP machines simply will not let you install the TND Dock due to a security permission issue.

The above three are rare, but do happen from time to time. Rand is working on a New Smarter TND Dock. It is in QA testing now and hopefully it will help to overcome some issues that we see with some computers not being able to update via the TND Dock.

The New Smarter TND Dock will also run on the Mac.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Start menu, in XP click the run, else just type in the search box msconfig.

It will bring up another window. Go to the startup tab.

Look for the TNDDock and un-check it. Hit apply then OK.

    Thanks,
    Mark
