When I am home (like a hour or so I'll give you the SN). I bought this off a TTR member so I don't know when he bought it. Thing is in great condition and if they charge to fix it then I'll pay the fee if it's not under warranty. Otherwise I'll be buying a new 710.

I managed to fix it. Took a flat head to pop the button out and now it turns on and off. Don't have much time to send it in to get fixed. I do know I plan on buying the 710 here shortly anyways unless you know if there is a newer model coming out soon.

New model information is not released to the public until usually 2 weeks - 30 days of it being available for sale. This will be in the way of a news release which I try to post here also.

    Thanks,
    Mark

5.0 out of 5 stars Real life saver for Truckers
This has saved me a lot of time by avoiding problems ahead. Even the regular driver would enjoy being able to avoid up coming traffic jams. Easy to use, just plug and listen.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mac Users Be Aware
This product is not as easy as I would like for Mac users to update. As a result, some features work better than others. May be a function of the challenging way you have to update your RVND dock. Overall, using the product is best suited to your co-pilot as I have not figured out how to get traffic displayed automatically as one approaches. Still, I would buy again.

I have extensive experience with how a competitor handles it so I am real curious to see what RM came up with. living paycheck to paycheck right now so havn't been able to purchase one. And unfortantly, getting one and using the thing is the only way to get first hand knowledge of it.

I did use it when I was traveling with the Rand Road Show over the summer months and I was impressed the way it did show up accidents. One it showed about 20 miles out.

Some of the features will allow the TND when you have the settings set will allow the TND to route around types of traffic. Red being stopped and Yellow being slow.

The traffic will pick up NavTeq broadcasted traffic. It is generally around major cities. NavTeq web site will show that list.

Overall I say it works pretty well, but it will be limited to major cities.

    http://www.navteq.com/ click on traffic.

How far from each city is dependent on the broadcasting of that station around that city.

    Thanks,
    Mark

That is how works in the other devices I've used. However, when the device senses it's not moving, I actually see ads on the screen. Ads keep the actual subscription free but I'd be willing to pay a fee to get rid of them if NavTech offered one-which I don't believe they do for these devices at present.

Seeing the traffic/incidents maybe a good thing but rerouting seems to me probamatic at best. Is it really better, for example, to get routed off the interstate or restricted access roads in favor of surface streets? and the traffic isn't real "real time". It takes time for the information to be entered and then broadcast, providing the device is within line-of-sight to the nearest braodcast point. Using LA as my example-can it really make a difference?

Still I want to see what it does with RM setup.

Will the 710 take traffic incidents into consideration when setting up the initial routing?
