I did go ahead and pick up a TND 510. Plugged it in and let it charge for 3 hrs. Then fired it up. Took a few minutes for the satellites to find me. One they did, I was impressed. Speed limits, with the exception of a few, and mile-markers were very accurate.

I haven't got to set up a route yet, but used it yesterday to see what roads and highways I would be approaching. I did bump up the speed warning, due to some of the speed limits being wrong. A couple of times I was thinking that the unit had a built in radar detector. Just about the time it chimed it's usual "Speed warning", a trooper was approaching. I know it doesn't have a radar detector, but it sure seemed like it.

I was able to do the updates tonight, and will be able to do more with it over the next couple of days.

Last night when i shut down for the night I turned off the GPS. From the VA/TN line on I-81 to exit 280 on I-40 it showed 55. When I got up this morning I turned it on and it showed correctly. This GPS is only 7 days old and I updated the night I bought it.

The calculator will not add, subtract or do anything correctly with percentages. Example: 1259 - 27% = 1258.73 another one 100 + 10% = 100.1. Everything is done as 0.~ whatever.

Also from Wythville, VA to Berryville, AR it routed me to Charleston, WV across I-64 that's wayyyy out of route. It should have been 81 south to I-40 west.

i run on percentage os if they are keeping 27% what you want to know is what you get do it this way 1259 (line haul) X .73 (what you get paid) will give you 919.07 to add any percent to a number just X it by 1.? so to add 10% to 100 just 100 X 1.1 will give you 110

from the main screen click on preferences then click on route then play with the route tab (shortest can have you running ittle roads alot) and freeways tab (prefer can add 100's of miles) if you change any of them it will change the route

the 710 had me on a 1 lane dirt road for 3.5 miles today because i had it set for shortest and stuped me i didn't check it first also so if it's not routing you the way you want to go just go the way you want it will change the route after a few

Flood I know how to add it for $400 I think it should too. I had it set for fastest and shortest. My cheap $100 Garmin can do a better job but it's for a car. The more I use this thing the less I like it. I'm to the point of taking it back and getting a Corba. It even has a red light camera alert.

US 231 from Oneonta to Ashville, Al is a truck route with two 80,000 lb limit bridges. It kept telling me to turn around not a truck route. I was legal to run the road. Setting it to 79,000 should not have to be done.

    Post 3063 -

As explained before, speed limits are set by segments in the map database. If a segment is missing a "corrected" truck speed then the program will retain the last know truck speed limit. When you hit a segment that has a "corrected" truck speed then the new speed will show up. This is in the Navteq data.

You can turn the TND off/on and it will pick up the car speed shown if your settings are set to show car speed if no truck speed is shown.

Take a piece of paper and draw a 4 inch line. Take this line and subdivide it into 4 equal amounts with a vertical line. You should have 4 equal segments. Take in the 1st segment and write 55. This is how the road looks in the map database. If you are in segment 3 which has no truck speed then it will take the last know truck speed from segment 1 which is 55. Now as mentioned. If you have your settings set to show car speed if no truck speed. If you are in segment 4 and turn your TND off/on, since no truck speed is shown in segment 4 it now shows the car speed.

    SEGMENT 1SEGMENT 2SEGMENT 3SEGMENT 4car 80/truck 55car 80car 80car 80

    Example: 1259 - 27% = 1258.73 another one 100 + 10% = 100.1. Everything is done as 0.~ whatever.

You are asking it to take 27% which is .27. You are not asking it to do 27% of anything but itself. So, 1259 - 27% = 1259 - .27 == 1258.73.

    10% = .1 so 100 + 10% = 101.

    now if you took 1259 x 27% = 339.93.

in other words, 27% is .27 of itself.

    Main screen/preferences/route/freeway -

fastest - allow - will take you on I-81/I-40, Prefer will take you on I-81/I-40

Shortest - allow - will take you on I-81/I-40, Prefer will take you on I-81/I-40

I would have to know the rest of your settings and your truck settings to try to duplicate.

    Thanks,
    Mark

There is a restriction that has been corrected in the next map set. I am looking at that map set and it shows 52 miles -

    City center - city center

    US-321
    US-278
    AL-77
    US-11
    US-321
    US-411

Understand there are millions of miles of roads, tens of thousands of bridges, overpasses, etc etc. Incorrect truck attributes do exist. If you find one, simply post it here and Rand will research. Humans do enter the data and humans do the paperwork flow. So, errors will happen. Do not expect any map database to be 100% all the time. By the time maps are updated, guess what, roads and bridges have changed again. Map databases will never be ahead of the curve. It could be one of the roads you were on was upgraded and from the map set you are on to the map set I am on it has now been updated in NavTeq and Rand.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Mark this is the only calculator I have ever used in my 41 years that subtracts .27 and not subtract it as 27%. It should be 1259 - 27% 339.93 = 919.07 not 1258.73.

Here is how most other calculators do it.
    You input 1258
    then -
then 27% it will show 339.93 after you hit the % mark.
Then hit = it shows 919.07 not 1258.73.

Some will just show the total and not the amount coming out.
