Hi Mark and no I haven't been sending in errors but I will start right now. I assume I can just enter the errors on the gps itself. Also I'm beginning to see a pattern in that the GPS gets me close, but for some odd reason it wants me to go an exit farther than needed or to turn the wrong way and come back. This is when I enter an address and double check the GPS with google and my Trucking map.
But as mentioned I now just make the correct exit or turn and the GPS corrects itself.
Thanks
PS The latest, today was to get off I-87N to get to 1500 Corporate BLVD. NewBurgh NY. It wanted me to go an extra exit then work my way back. My way and it's way are shown to be truck routes by the GPS, my way is just faster and easier. I will send it in with detail.

It's still way too annoying to try and type on that buggy touch keyboard. Entering addresses is bad enough without trying to write a letter on it. You know what they could do? Just enable the thing to hook up a bluetooth keyboard. Then you don't have to unplug it from power to plug a keyboard in. Check this out.
Mark Kling Thanks this. -
Some of the places it tries to make you get off and on are just odd.
I know in Ohio on RT.30 between Beaverdam and Upper Sandusky it will try for about 30 miles to get you to take a side road, it is the old rt.30.
There are not any flags of 30, it just seems to like the old road better.
In some cases like Rt. 220/ I-99 in PA. It does not like the northern section of it much. The actual mapping of the road is a recent add on, since I know that Nav did not have it at all till the last year at some point. But now it is in the database, it just does not like it.
I think that it knows it is on there, just it does not have it's actual rating on the road, so it tries to get you to take alternate routes.
There are other routes like this as well, just these two I run allot so they stick in my mind.Mark Kling Thanks this. -
first i would like to say most of the issues i have had with the tnd 700 have for the most part solved with latest update. i still do have some concerns with routing into residential areas and it tells you to take business routes that are not truck friendly. however i must say i am getting much happier with the unit. i would say at this point it is better than any other truck gps. i do think rm needs to have better support on the rm website they should address any issues on the website instead they have a section with frequent asked questions that only speaks of the cable for the tnd 700. i called tech support and was advised to change some setting and see if it worked better. i felt like i was being ignored. But again i am now happy after the last update.
Mark Kling and Gears Thank this. -
I've been searching this thread, but can't find this question. I'm sure it must have been asked, tho.
Will the TND 700 map for hazmat routing? Can that route be defined by class of materials i.e. flamable vs corrosive vs explosive?
The next question is: Does the TND 700 have a 'night' display feature. I've read where it is very bright, so can it be 'dimmed'?Mark Kling and Kimono_skunk Thank this. -

The TND's have Daytime, Nighttime, and auto. In Auto it usually switches at dawn/dusk. Their is also a setting under preferences\device settings\brightness to also let the user adjust the screen to their needs.
Thanks,
Mark -
The routing issues and the FAQ post all have been forwarded to RM yesterday. As soon as I get word back I will post the replies.
Thanks,

Ok the other day I was in Newton, NC on NC-10 The target dc about a mile off exit 37 on 321. My TND 500 told me it was 130 miles to Gaffney,SC. It wanted me to go north on 321 then east on I40 then South on I-77 then west on I-85. Soon as I got South of Exit 33 (on 321). It reconfigured and gave me the route i was going to take. Which was only 63 miles. That route was 321 south to I-85 west hit my exit wham bam thank you. Now I have the TND 500. I just don't know why the goofy thing didn't figure out that route was 80 miles shorter to begin with.

That was one of my routes to check mapping errors.
I live about 30 miles from US-321 on the I-40 end.
Thanks,
Mark
