Just wondering does anyone make aftermarket voices for the TND like some do for the TomTom an Garmin
Suppport Thread for the TND 500, TND 700 or future Rand McNally products.

I have a question about my TND710, TND Dock Version: 2.0.8.0 , Software Version: 11.4.1968.1813
On rough roads the power plug will come out of the dash (no big deal just plug it back in) but when I do at night the TND comes back to full brightness until I turn it off and back on or go into the settings and change it to allways night and back to automatic.
O and when I update it via the dock and unplug it from the computer I have to hit the reset button to get it to turn on. -
After you update, it is a good move to power off the TND before you disconnect it from the computer. It is like a Plug and Play device and you should gracefully dismount any USB product.
Thanks,

I bought a rand 710 4 months ago and it won't power on. Tried connecting to my pc and it didn't work. Planning on calling rand since it has warranty still. Just curious if anyone has any ideas. Ty

Mark. i recently installed a new converter in my cab. Of coarse i read the manual first just to be on the safe side. now understand that the reason converters are offering more and more wattage in a much smaller package is because the are no longer simple converters. they are essentially "switching ac power supplies". there is difference between the older converters which produced a much smoother curved wave and these new"switching" converters which produce a much harsher square wave signal. there are many devices which may have trouble with this kind of power. devices that may have trouble using these supplies are listed in the manual. turns out that direct chargers, which means they do not contain an external converter of there own(like the rand) are not recommended because of the harsh synthetic ac power being produced. normal house current has a curved alternating wave. the wave produced by many of these new style converters is much harsher. a unit such as a lap top has an external power supply which contains smoothing circuits that tame the harsh wave before it reaches the unit. smaller electronic devices, such as the rand, which do not contain external power supplies have much less efficient smoothing circuits which are not well equipped to deal with harsh power. without getting too technical basically the older style converters produced as much wattage as they could given their components the power was just sitting there waiting for you to use it. the larger the components, the larger the wattage, the larger the physical size of it. the wave was simply doubled giving you alternating current. the new "switching" converters only produce as much wattage as is in demand from a component at any given time. from zero to whatever their max output is(hence the term "switching). in essence rather than the converter pushing out the wattage to the component the component now has to pull or ask for the power it needs as well as deal with it's much harsher wave. this could explain why some people are experiencing problems while using the AC charger. the rand circuits simply can't handle the harsh square wave power being produced by today converters. there are converters that produce much smoother power but of coarse there two to three times the price of the converters being sold at most truck stops. if you want a visualization of the difference between a curved wave and a square one just imagine trying to swallow a rectangular pill as opposed to an oval shaped one. that's the best way to describe it.

Would this solve your problem? http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE350G&total_watts=200
used as a power conditioner not as a backup but it will function as that as well. -
Thanks,
Markarea1509 Thanks this.
