    Rapid City to Miles City, MT is around 230 miles via US-212
    why does the TND say it is 493 and takes me into the city from the north?

    remind me why I bought new maps?

    seriously the routing was better in june 2011

    That has been corrected. I am looking at the next set of maps and it shows Belle Fourche, SD.

    Preferences/Routing/Freeways - set to allow. I think you have on Prefer. I run 504 miles on prefer and 238 on allow.

    Prefer will try to force and keep you on I-roads.

    I purchased a 700 from RM online a few months ago. I've had some issues with it from the beginning such as from time to time it will lock up and the only way to get it going is to power it down and then restart it. Also it keeps telling me the data is over a year old and I should update it. Problem is I have tried over and over to update it but the Dock never comes up on the machine. I'm not home during the week when the customer service phone number is available so I'm stuck with old maps etc. Can you help??
    P.S. Is it true the 700 is discontinued and replaced by the 710 which I thought was for RV's, not big trucks?

    Does it have the lock up issue on AC? Sounds like the DC cord is either loosed or you are not getting full DC power. I would suggest you charge it for about 3 hours on AC and then place on DC. See after about 5 hours if the battery (remove DC cord) indicator on the main screen shows a charge.

    Due to licensing requirements when the maps are over a year old it will show a reminder your maps are over a year old.

    The 7710 is for RV's. The 710 is the latest model.

    What model did you buy from RM? Serial number on the back.

    the serial number is B 04 T7E 988668 V. O. 1

    The only battery indicator is the red/green light on the right side of the screen frame

    I have it plugged in to the ac charger now but the unit was fully charged when I shut down Friday but the indicator light is showing red at the moment.

    When i plug the usb cord in to my pc and the TND nothing happens even tho the instruction card states after a few minutes 1 or 2 windows should show up on the screen and I should be able to load the Dock software to the pc.
