There are several different factors that I look at when a TND will not connect to a computer - Mainly Win7/64 bit machines.

Does the TND show Connected on the screen when you connect to a computer?

    1. If it shows connected then this tells me we have a basic handshaking of the two USB ports (TND and computer).

    2. Sometimes the computer USB port does not provide enough power to complete the "formal" handshaking.

    3. Is your computer power settings set to something other than "High"?

    4. Are you using the supplied USB cable that came with the TND?

    5. Did you turn your computer off, Turn the TND on and attach to the computer and then turn the computer back on?

If it does not show Connected on the TND.

    1. Did you try another USB port?

    2. Are you using the supplied USB cable that came with the TND?

    3. Did you try another USB port?

    4. Did you try to let the TND stay connected to the computer for at least 30 min to an hour?

    5. Have you tried a 6" or 1' USB cable. I have seen this work.

    6. Did you try a USB Power hub?

    7. Did you turn your computer off, Turn the TND on and attach to the computer and then turn the computer back on?

These are some things that I have seen and suggest for the newer Win7/64 Bit machines.

The USB driver that the TND uses is already on the computer. Rand does not supply an USB driver when you connect your TND to your computer.

    Thanks,
    Mark

is there a new and improved gps coming out soon from RM? I can't imagine any more features or bigger screen.
after going through several TND 500's I finally found one that has been working great for the last year. Thanks to help from Mark and Diesel Boss.

    Dieselboss Thanks this.

You know officially I cannot mention that...LOL..

Marketing has to release any public annoucements.

And thanks for the Kudo's for DieselBoss and myself. We both strive to make life a little easier by our services since we both have been drivers and know what you go through.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Hey Mark, serial is: B06T7E993452 V.0.1. as far as the screen on the TND, it doesn't show anything different when it's plugged into the computer. The only change is the battery meter disappears because it's charging at that point.

How long ago did you buy this T7E?

Look at the pins on the USB on the T7E and make sure you can see 5 pins and they all should be at the end of the black plastic insert.

    thanks,
    Mark

I just picked it up off my trainer. he said he's had it for about a year, but he has a cmv gps app for his android phone that he's been using. I can see all 5 pins on the TND's mini-USB port.

If he has the receipt, less than a year?

Did it hook to his computer?

    Thanks,
    Mark

My husband has a TND 510. Apparently the USB power cord worked loose yesterday and the battery ran down and the unit shut off. He plugged it back in and let it charge back up where it had a green light again, but the unit will not power back on. He tried using the reset button on the back, but it does nothing. Any ideas on what we could do? Thanks.

Leave unplugged from AC/DC for about 12 hours, then charge on AC for 3 hours. Turn on and once on, press the reset, it will reboot.

Let me know if you have any more issues after this.

    Thanks,
    Mark
