I see the TND 700 seems to be on ongoing problem... I bought mine in Aug 2010, it failed (it would freeze up then throw horizontal lines, then go blank) in Feb 2011. While on a two month trip... After a few frustrating phone calls, they determined the internal battery was at fault. Sent me a replacement in April 2011. Now it won't turn on. Took two hours before it would come on. Then it randomly turns off. The connector is loose at the USB port, and it seems to be a manufacturing defect. I am extremely careful to match the pins & sockets, and not force anything. I worked with nuclear missile systems in the USAF...
So, now I'm waiting to hear back...

I Have a 710 and would get the (warning Navi exe has had a serious error and must shut down) I would have to shut it down turn it back on and I be dammed 30 minutes later did the same thing. Happen over and over.
Found out the error for me stopped when I turned off the built in timers. You know Drive timers, HOS timers, that stuff. -
My dad has a TND500 serial~A 47 T5C 1713B0~
I have gone through doing various touble shoots, attempting to do updates, etc. When going into the TND500 as an external hard disk to view the files, all files are alot of ASCII symbols, and register as invalid file names/extensions.
Problems list:
invalid file names
missing/lost/corrupt files
computer side dock software doesn't recognize the TND500 as being connected and subsequently won't update
I have tried to find even an older outdated system files setup for the TND500 that I could manually install and then update to current that way, but can't seem to find one of them either. -
All the symptoms you give me lead to the USB connector on the DC cord.
If the connector is physically loose on the TND then contact Rand Support and let them know the RMA replacement is at fault.
If the DC cord is Loose at the USB end, slightly squeeze the ends together just slightly to provide a tighter fit. Also try wrapping the DC cord around the bracket to provide some strain relief at the connector.

If you were listening to Road Dog - Merith and Chris T. On Friday... that was me just before they did the interview with the band. On the air about the baby.
Thanks,
