Leave unplugged for 12 hours, then plug into AC for 3 hours. Once it boots up press the reset.

Make sure the DC cord you are using has a 2amp output. If you use a 1 amp output cord the 7" will not get a full charge to the battery with the TND on and it will act like it is shutting down. Usually the screen will go blank/black first.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Sorry for the late posts. When the wife has a day off I try to enjoy with her and the baby.

    Thanks,

when will this next version be released? is it a software revision or new model? i've got a 510 in my cart at amazon and about to click buy... but if a new model is coming before summer, i'll wait.

I cannot release any information about new models until Rand has given the okay via public releases.

New Versions usually come out about every 4 months.

    thanks,
    Mark

I assume you mean toggle between current road, nearest intersection and nearest town.

I have toggled it many times.

It seems that the other two displays are also less "functional"... though I rarely have any use for the other two.

    Do you mean something else?

To give you an example... just yesterday I was sitting at Pacific Xpress, 4310 Pacific Hwy E, Fife, Wa. The display for city, county, state was blank.... you'd think it would at least display Tacoma, WA... in fact that may have been what it did display before the update.

That is selected... still no speed limits shown in Canada. It works just fine in the States.

I typically set the unit to display metric when I'm in Canada... should that make a difference?

I've set the unit to display US Standard when I get close to the border, and have never seen it display a speed limit there either.

I'll make an attempt to keep track of these when they occur in the future.

Last time I tried was heading southbound on Hwy 2 from Edmonton AB to Calgary AB. I had Fort Macleod plugged in as my destination.

There's a rest area just north of Airdrie.

I tried searching for POI --> my route --> Parking Rest Areas to see if I could make that rest area to do my 150 mile load check.

Unit came back with nothing found.

There's a rest area just south of Wetaskiwin that should have displayed as well.

I've searched for rest areas in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan... all with the same results.

    Glad to hear it.

Just to update my previous post's. I am very pissed at Rand McNally now. After telling me last week that I would not receive the same unit back again I got my email advising me that my unit was on it's way back, THE SAME UNIT AGAIN. After making two calls today the technical support manager assured me that the unit was checked and should be good, after the firtst tech support person told me that they turned the unit on and it powered up so they sent it back to me. If this thing does not work properly this time Rand McNally is going to have an enemy. I just want my money back now. On a scale of 1 to 10 I have to rank their customer support at a zero.

They powered it on and now it is good? Did they mention any other things that they may have done? Such as the DC cord might be the issue and not making a good connection?

If you have any issues PM or E-Mail me.

Send me your Name and any tracking information that you have so far.

    Thanks,
    Mark

We have the TND 700 and want to get Lifetime Maps. How do we go about that? If we order online will an SD card be sent to us or can we download direct to the unit and pay online?
