What model? If it was a "few months ago" it was probably NOT a TND500 or TND700 model, which is what that link was referring to. IF it is a 510 or 710 the latest map update hasn't come out yet.

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

Started screen flickering then went off. Used wall charger and it came on but froze up. Called tech support and they suggested pushing reset button. Now it does nothing. It won't even connect to my computer. I tried letting it sit for 12 hours and charging it for 3 hours until the green light came on. Still won't power on. Sad I paid 380 dollars for something than only worked a month.

Yes, if you have installed the TND Dock and check periodically it will inform you when a map update is available. In between map updates (3 - 4 times per year in my experience) it will do a software update and you will see new functions, buttons, capabilities, etc. Every 2 weeks they put up new road construction and POI ratings data.

Have had my TND 700 for almost 2yrs and have only been offered one map update, had to pay for it and they sent me an SD card. I specified US Postal but they sent it UPS and it cost me an extra 25 bucks brokerage fees and I believe even these new maps were already outdated. I now have the New dock installed but can't get any updates yet. I realy think Rand needs to get their act together as other gps systems are getting quarterly updates and their units seem to be more trouble proof. I like the Rand for what it offers but needs to be more current. If PC Miler can get the latest information why can't Rand and if you order from their web store why can't they follow instructions on how to send it so people don't incur an extra unexpected expense. New maps cost me 100 bucks and were not any better for my area of travel, western Canada and US.

If you have the LTM, then the update will be broadcasted via the (new) Dock. As of now, no release is pending on new maps.

    Thanks,
    Mark

When you let it sit for 12 hours, did you have it unplugged from any power source?

And on the 3 hour charge - AC?

    Thanks,
    Mark

I am sorry about the mix up on the shipping. How long ago did you order the Maps? I know in the past they send UPS, but that policy was changed for Canada within the last few months.

The New Dock should be opening up this week or next for the other models. This was the last word I got. I will verify again.

I cannot speak for other navigation companies, but I know Rand when we get new updates for the maps Rand does go over them and test them for incorrect issues that have been reported.

PM me or send me an E-Mail.

    Thanks,
    Mark
