Does it not charge on AC and DC?

Did you send the unit back already?

Would you like Rand to send you packing material too? :biggrin_2556:

No manufacture goes out and measures any drop box and makes their box within those specifications.

    Thanks,
    Mark

When you exceed the speed the background turns red.

If you have the prompts set up for visual/audio, audio, or visual only it does not matter, once you exceed the limit you set you will get the warning each time. It is not selective.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Drivers, it is much easier for me to help you if I am given some basic information with your posts.

Serial number off the back (bottom right) - this clues me to what model you have and map set.

If you bought the new maps.

What version you are on. - Preferences/device/about

If it is not charging on DC, does it charge on AC? - if you do not have an inverter, take it and charge it on the AC outlet when you take a shower.

If you have an route issue, State, road, direction, exit.

Many drivers post and when I ask for more information they never respond again. I am here to help, but with 7 different models and 3 different map sets it is hard to narrow down your issue on the first go around.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Mark...quick question...

I've got a refurbed 500, and the week or so it is requiring resetting far more often than ever before. Anything in particular I should look for?

I notice it tends to do it after I have been stationary for a period of time. It's not a real problem at this point, as it never freezes while I'm in motion.

    Thanks in advance!

This is a truck GPS right? California truck speed limit 55 every where,Oregon truck speed limit 55 every where,Washington State truck limit 60 everywhere but the rand only knows this on Interstates so on secondary highways it shows car speed limits so there is no way to get a prompt if u go over the limit as u would need to go over the car speed limit which could be 65 when truck is 55 to get a prompt and on my TND 700 I only get a red line on a dark black background when I go over the limit and is not easy to see unless u focus directly on the spot and take u'r eyes off the road for too long which then becomes a safety issue.

How often do you turn it off? Any TND should be powered off and then on after 2-3 days. Cleans up memory.

    Thanks,
    Mark

You have the setting set for "Show Car Speed if no Truck Speed". So, what is happening is on the segment of the road that you are on there is no truck speed build into the map database. Speeds are part of the map database. So, it reverts to car speed since that is your setting.

What is the serial number - back, bottom right and version you are on? Preferences/device/about - upper right.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I am about to purchase the 710 but would like to know which vendor (Amazon, DieselBoss, etc) will give me the newest model. Is it possible that they would send me a 710 that has been in storage for years and not the best circuitry? What should I look for in the serial number to know I have the freshest edition and not an older generation? Thanks :biggrin_25514:

    a 710 is a 710 is a 710.

Since they only came out in March of 2011, chances are they are not several years old.

They sell pretty well, so you would not be getting one that was manufactured in Mar 2011.

    Thanks,
    Mark
