For the precip overlay especially. I suggest downloading maybe 5 to 7 frames instead of a static shot if possible. Provides a better feeling for weather movement.

Also, did you ever get any more on the traffic impact overlay?

Increasing frames will increase bandwidth used by the user. As it is, if a frame is not updated a new download is not called for. If you increase the frame refresh then bandwidth will be increased therefore increasing data usage.

What is received from Navteq is what is displayed.

    thanks,
    Mark

That makes sense. It shouldn't be all that much more. Maybe in the future, it could be an option?

Also, in clarification. Navteq? Thought it was MyWeather. That is the company credited on the opening splash screen.

The traffic impact overlay is the second selection after no overlay in the weather display selection pages. Since it is there, I assumed it was part of the weather download and separate from the Navteq traffic which comes in via rds. Is the traffic impact overlay tied to tbe Navteq data?

The "traffic impact" overlay comes from the weather service provider data via wifi. This is totally separate from the real-time NavTeq FM overlay that require an optional receiver (as you know.) From what I can derive from my testing, the "traffic impact" data uses the standard "red-yellow-green" color scheme to combine multiple current weather readings seen on various other overlays to predict regions where the weather is likely to be a factor in slowing your actual travel times through that area. It's a neat concept. But I have no way of commenting on the accuracy of the predictions for this particular overlay from the data provider without extensive real-world "controlled-logic" feedback from dozens of impartial drivers.

It is supposed to be thunderclouds and rain tomorrow where I am. I plan on going to Winston-Salem and up past Mebane. I will run it in Traffic Impact and see what other screen shots I can get and how it in relationship to traffic.

I agree,, seems to go from Green-Yellow-Red... with each stage of color varying in shades, lighter to darker.

    Thanks,
    Mark
