Mine happened on a single trip. Stopped at the rest area on I-84 near Stanfield OR for the night and shut unit off. When unit started in the am it displayed that message untill I drove out of the rest area and back onto the interstate and followed the highlighted route.
My next stop would have been Salt Lake City UT. It also happened a couple other times but can't remember where as I felt it wasn't an issue as the unit worked properly when back on the route.Just thought it was a little quirky as there were no dirt roads nearby that I would have needed to travel.

    Thanks
    John

I am not back to my truck yet, but that sounds similar to my scenario too. It seems like it happened a few times after I was at a truck stop and as soon as I fired it up in the morning (I usually turn it off when my day is done).

Did you actually route to that stop or was it a on the way stop?

Did you turn the TND off at night and upon turn on when it recalculated it showed the Dirt Road msg?

Preferences/route - is Fast Recalc on or off?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Mark I sent in the form for the life time maps that was offered free with the 720. Mine was purchased earlier but was grandfathered in on the date. My question is when will I see or get a response back on this. Have looked on the announcement when hooked to the dock but has never shown up. Know the maps in mine are current but assumed would get something from them.

Next set of maps for the 720 will probably be next year. Currently maps are send out once a year with the possiblity of more during the year, but not in concrete yet.

What kind of response were you looking for from Rand? If this concerns you then maybe we could get an annoucement put together for you and the others that have this concern.

    Thanks,
    mark

The answer to this would be yes/no. It is a paved road physically, but the map data shows it as a dirt road still. Rand has to submit this error to NavTeq.

    Thanks for this example.

Another new one tonight Mark, I-95 Northbound in South Carolina at about MM 63, all of a sudden got a pop up "Narrow Road Ahead" I was on the freeway. Pretty funny really.

I will document the dirt road issue next time it happens. In all occurances the unit had been on, team truck so it never gets shut off, and we were leaving a fuel stop or rest area. No dirt roads in evidence. All part of a multi-stop trip

Not really concerned as you put it. Just thought there would come type of acknowledge of receipt and explanation of how we are to recieve it and use it would be nice. As it stands right now, I and anyone else that sent it don't really know if they have even gotten it.

That I can understand, the not knowing. I have gathered up your concerns and have sent them to the Product Manager for their response.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Dirt Roads. In the past versions we did not have a setting for Dirt Roads. Even though it is in the map data it was not a setting. Now we have that setting thanks to a Canadian driver. As noted you may see a Dirt Road pop up message when you are in a truck stop or rest area. One example posted above did show that the access roads in the rest area still showed a Dirt Road attribute. This is an in-correct attribute and needs to be corrected. I have submitted a internal ticket on the above post.

If you get the Dirt Road Pop Up, let me know where you were and we can look at the map database to verify the road attribute.

Please note also, any wrong attributes may take up to a year to get corrected in the map database.

    Thanks,
    Mark
