sorry if this has been covered but started getting a speech error on 720 today, the voice starts to sound like max headroom lol and repeating words at a rapid pace. Hasn't happened once before today and only thing I did earlier today was enable wifi. Also how do you disable the dirt road warning!! I wouldnt mind it if it went away but requires manually acknowledging it every time.

Mark is there a way the programmers can make the unit able to take an address it sees as invalid? https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en I figured out what is wrong by entering the address 35335 hwy 41 coarsegold, CA. into google maps. The gas station you see in my link is 35335 but when you enter that into google maps it puts you down the road a bit.

It depends on the route, what settings you have, what the road criteria is for the different roads. I send it up to the GIS department to check also.
Roads are given "cost" factors. If you have a road with "0", then you would not be routed on it. So, depending on the "cost" factors also when the router recalculates will determine the route.
Thanks,

You might also try a shorter USB cable. I have seen sometimes a 1' USB cable works whereas the 3' USB cable did not.

The Dirt road warning. Where did you get it at? This has been suggested to allow it to auto dismiss.
Thanks,

I have to extend a very large thank you to Mark K - #1 Beta tester at Rand McNally; #1 Redeemer at RM...
I purchased a TND710 for my husband last year. My husband had the 710 for 2 months and was having a lot of issues with the DC cable - he was also informed by tech support at RM that he had to charge it in AC each day for it to work properly (lol). Very interesting suggestion to make to a truck driver! I first stumbled upon Mark on TruckersReport while trying to get some insight into the issue. Mark was helpful then by helping me obtain a RMA to send the 710 back for a replacement.
Fast forward ahead a year. My husband had to come home and was out of work on medical leave for over a year. He never even had the chance to take the 710 out, so it sat here with him for 15-16 months. When he did return to work he took the 710 and it initially worked great; then came the repeat of the very same issues the first unit was having. If you're following the story so far, you will note the replacement unit was out of warranty by 5 months at this time...
I contacted Mark by email and asked if there had been any fixes for this issue. I expected nothing but some suggestions and good wishes. Mark surprised me by sending a shipping label (overnight) to send the unit to him in NC. I shipped the 710 and had an email update from him waiting when I got out of bed. He maintained communication for the next couple of days as he was checking the unit out. I then had another shipping notification from FedEx (again overnight) and the unit arrived this past Friday. He resolder the usb cable, sent a new DC cable... even updated to the latest maps to acknowledge our problems!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully, Mark will not mind my sharing all of this... it's just not often I encounter someone who is so skilled and takes such pride in his work. I have watched (okay, read) his single-handed efforts to try to make it right for so many on this forum in regard to RM products. No matter what's said, he seems to keep his cool and try to do the right thing.
Especially at this time in my life, when I really couldn't handle too much more happening, Mark took the reins and reinstilled my faith in my fellow man AND Rand McNally! I sure hope they're paying him what he's worth (even though Beta Testers are PRICELESS)!
THANK YOU MARK!
Forgot to mention: Got an email from Mark today letting me know he's also sending a new AC cable!48Packard, Mark Kling and Chris6074 Thank this. -

In June I bought a new (open box) TND 700 for my son, a new driver. Within a month or so the DC cord became loose then about a week ago the center plastic incert on the unit fell out and is cracked.
Can you give me any suggestion on how to get the mini usb replaced in the unit?
I have read about 9 mos. of post on this site and it is clear that there is a defect in the usb plugs when subjected to vibration. Does Rand have a fix?
Thanks
