    Minor annoyance....

So I route from Guymon, OK to Austin, TX using freeways- allow all. Calculated route looks good on the paper map and I'm off. Stop in Childress, TX and the device decides to re-calculate the route to something longer with the same settings. This does not happen much but it does happen on ocassion. Any explanation for this behavior? The last time it occured, I had saved the orginal calculation and just re-implemented it. Yes- I am aware of the spelling issues in this post- technical issues.

I have a TND 510 and so far I have zero (0) confidence in it. After several aggravating situations I have managed to get into with the ever helpfulness of my gps, I am going to start posting issues I encounter.

Tonight for example, I am at the I-90 Truck Stop in Mitchell, SD. I chose this location due to the fact I was low on fuel and driving hours. My gps showed this location to be a pilot, which I get a fuel discount at. Found out this is not a Pilot but an AmBest.

I understand things change, but by appearances, this has been an AmBest for a while.

yes, my gps has been updated

This was a pilot. It is now an indie. it changed over about a year ago. The old Sinclair truck stop in Murdo, SD is now a pilot

This could be an error in the Trucker's friend which is part of the TND. I will send this info up to Rand.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Hard to say. Usually when you go off-route it will recalculate a new route. It all depends on the roads and the settings for the roads ahead to your destination.

If you continue on your first route it should recalculate again to the route you are on.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Is there a way to change the two maintenance odometer descriptions?

My wife didn't know I already had the garmin dezl and I came in for hometime to find a new 720 I'm gonna run it side by side with the dezl for a while and see which one I prefer so far I like a few of the features really like the part where you can search stops along your route where with the garmin I gotta keep selecting till I find one one route

But would be nice to change say maintenance 1 to say maybe pm due or what ever

    Thanks

It didn't. It kept attempting to u-turn me back to the second route calculation and finally went back to the original route after I put enough distance between the first way point of the new route and myself ( is it me or does the male voice sound resigned at times). I was in the parking lot on the NW quad of the corner of 287 and 83. The original route had me turning left on 287 and heading east while the new route had me continuing south on 83. I find it odd that a parking lot not 50 feet off the original route should trigger a recalculation.

As I mentioned, this is a relatively rare occurrence. But is does happen.

Pm would be considered Maintenance. The titles are set and non-changable by the user.

Make sure you register for the LTM's.

    Thanks,

There is a set distance that will tigger a re-calc. A lot of factors go into play when you go off route and the TND re-calc's again.

A lot of what goes on internally I cannot talk about.

    Thanks,
    mark
