Have to agree with Mark on this. In all seriousness, there is no way short of visiting every single truckstop, fuel stop, and travel plaza and counting spaces. As I posted before, not even the Trucker's Friend does that and much of the truck specific data in the RM devices come from that august source.

I'm routing from 11 Taft Rd Totowa NJ to 50-02 55th Ave Maspeth, NY and the total miles it shows is 99. My qualcomm nav shows 37 miles and is pretty much a direct route.
The RM 720 has me going back up 80 W to 287 to 95 to 695 to 295 to 495 and then destination.
Qualcomm shows 80E to 95 to 679 to 495.
First time it showed a completely different way to get there.

Trucks with 53-foot trailers may only travel on the portions of I-95, I-695,
I-295, and I-495 that cross the city between the Bronx-Westchester County line
and Queens-Nassau County line. 53-foot trailers carrying non-divisible loads
must apply for a New York City
Permit (pdf).

I just got a new 710 about a month ago. After using it for two weeks it developed a problem where the power connector doesn't seem to be making a good connection. The little charge light would flicker everytime you hit a bump. Two days after this problem developed the unit shut itself off. After turning it on again it locked up three times in a row while I was trying to find my way to an address. I had this unit mounted in the same location since being put inservice so the power connection is not an issue of improper connecting and disconnecting. I think the power cord is of an extremely poor design for this environment. The Garmin features a much more robust power adapter design in my opinion. I since have had to take the unit out of service since it won't do anything. This unit was purchased directly from Rand so I guess I'll be boxing it up and sending it back when I get home.
I do like the functionality and information presented on the unit as well as ease of use. I've just never had something that costs so much fail so quickly. Now I have to go back to my little car Garmin till I can get this resolved. -
The only thing I could find was that except for I95 south to I695 to I495 everywhere else is prohibited from having a 53' trailer. So, right now I'm parked at the Vince Lombardi travel center in NJ and there sure are a lot of 53' trailers that must not be going to NYC.
Guess I'm going to have to take my chances tomorrow as I have to drop just off the I495 and pick up south of I495 off the I678 and then hustle my way out of there. -
Mark W.Grumman Thanks this. -
