This thread is 491 pages long, so I'm not going to read through it to see if my question has been answered before I ask it.
Is there a way for me to create a custom route with a free tool such as google maps, and then upload that route to the GPS? -
Mark Kling Thanks this.

Hi Mark, I have had my 510 for 11 months now, and about 2 months ago when I left the home the GPS lettering in the lower middle of the screen had a circle with a cross through it. I fiddled with it for 10 miles (thinking that somehow the sat signal had been turned off.) When I stopped at a stop sign it it connected and worked fine the rest of the day. Then about a month ago I went to use it again and now the circle-cross over the GSP will not go away. I am thinking it is a software issue but running an update did not help. I also tried the reset button.

Thanks!

This can go one of two ways...
1. Check preferences/device (general)/GPS Status - Look to the right and on the bottom line is Satellites Used/Seen. What are those numbers? If the "Seen" shows numbers then the issue could be in a settings file. The Signal Quality at the top I need to know what that says.
2. If you see nothing under "seen" it could be the GPS receiver internally.
Be aware that Rand has found that some FM modulators will play havic with a GPS receiver. So, if you have one in your truck to send the Sirsus/XM radio to your truck radio, try disconnecting it and see what happens.
Location in the truck sometimes will interfer with the GPS receiver if it is close to a CB.
A lot of factors so many questions will be asked till we narrow it down.
The best way is to take it out of the truck and hold it outside the truck for about 5 minutes. If it does not pick up a signal at your physical location try another location the next day. If neither work to bring the GPS alive then how long ago did you buy the 510?
Thanks,
Mark
