I think you have to get them online. Not sure if they are a item that will be stocked by truck stops.
Thanks,

I purchased a TND 720 two months ago and have been very happy with its performance. Yesterday while the unit was plugged into a 12 volt supply on the truck, the screen on the unit changed from normal operation with the map, into a blank screen which showed a laptop PC and the unit hooked together with a USB cable, indicating the the unit was in some sort of an update mode. When the USB / 12 Volt cable is unplugged the GPS shuts down and boots up and operates normally. When the same cable is hooked up to the 12 Volts, the screen goes back to the software update mode and will not operate. I found the small recessed hole in the back of the case for the master reset and reseted it several times thinking the software locked up, but this does not solve the problem. The unit will not work when plugged into the USB / 12 Volt cable. The cable is the one supplied with the unit. Is there anything that can be done, or does the unit need to go back to Rand McNally for replacement?

The DC and the AC adapters only have pins 1 and 5 attached as these are the power pins.
If the AC does the same thing let me know as we would need to do an RMA, but this would need to get back to the engineers.
Also check the USB end of the DC cord and make sure no loose metal is inside, as this could short across pins 2,3, and 4 causing this connect mode.
THanks,

Where do I get map updates for tnd 700?? Also I am really pissed off paying $600 for it when it came out. No "free" updates. The 710 comes out about a year later and it is less than $400 with FREE UPDATES!!! Now I really like my 700 and now I have the money to update the maps but cannot find it anywhere. Feel free to send me a message for my email or how ever to try figuring this out or am I just screwed?
Thanks!! -
Map updates are offered only for the 510/710 currently. The 720 also has the LTM's offer, but the 720 has the most current maps.
Rand has a suggested retail price. If a dealer online or at a box store sells for over the suggested retail price then Rand has no control over that. The suggested retail price for the 7E has never been $600.
Thanks,

Hi Mark,
Quick note here in regards to my POI's no longer functioning. As stated in an e-mail to you previously, My POI's worked flawlessly until I did my update on my 510, and then the fun...
Now my previous POI's appear on my screen, can not be searched for, but can be selected on my screen. Since last e-mailing you, I went through and pulled some of the .ini & .cfg files that where recently written to my GPS, which has since gotten rid of the POI's. I then tried loading a POI file that I know works, when I unplugged it from my computer and let it reboot, it says something along the lines of Import 27 POI's, and I tell it to import them. It then says that imported zero POI's.
If you have any more information it would be appreciated.
Thanks
