I had the same problem yesterday around noon myself. I was in Garland and taking I 635 over the 35E. I though maybe because I removed it from the dash and mounted it down on the dash panel. As I traveled farther North toward OKCTY, it began tracking normally. I'm thinking now it may have been a glitch in the satellite system and not with my TND-720.

Cutout a piece of cardboard to make a sunshade. Make it a wrap around design so you can tape it together then just slip it over the unit when needed or slip it off when not.

The traffic receiver with the 720 will "go to sleep" if it cannot find a signal after about 30 minutes of searching. Unplug the power from traffic receiver and reconnect to "wake" it up.

    Rand is aware of this.

A different sunshade is being made for the 720.

    Thanks,
    mark

This is a support thread. Please keep it as such. There is another thread for unrelated posts.

The government does move the satellites from time to time. You will lose GPS during this time.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I know that when I was in the broadcasting field, twice yearly we would deal with lots of noise on the satellite feeds due to sun spots. But this was the wrong time of year for that, so I figured it was something simple. 720 has been perfect since then.

It was a problem with 720 so this is the correct place to post what I did

It was not an issue. Think about this. More than a few had lost GPS. What you see here is a small % of what gets called in to Rand Support. One I can see as a possible unit issue. Two units doing the same thing in different area's is a little out of the ballpark. 3 and more, then you have to look at what is related to all the issues.

This happens is certain area's every few months depending on where and which satelitte is moved back to a higher orbit.

After a few hours the satelitte is now placed in proper orbit and service is resumed, thus you now gain your GPS signal back.

    Thanks,
    Mark
